🌍 Honored to Receive the IASH Peace Award 2024 🌟
I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I stand before you, deeply honored as the recipient of IASH Peace Award 2024. This recognition for me is a reflection of a journey that began long ago in India when I first joined the National Service Scheme (NSS) in India. The NSS motto, "Not Me But You," has been the guiding force in my life, rooted in Mahatma Gandhi’s profound belief that true education is about service to others.
Gandhi’s words, "Be the change you wish to see in the world," have always echoed in my heart. His vision of inner transformation leading to societal change has been my inspiration in working for the rights of the girl child in India and beyond. I carry his teachings with me every day, knowing that even the smallest actions, driven by compassion, can create ripples of change.
Today, I reflect on the unwavering support I have received from my family, friends, mentors, and colleagues. Your belief in me has been my greatest strength. Alexander Hartmann, Shashi Shekhar Shukla, Sunita Phadnis Otto, Bala S. Ramani, Sanjay Tambe
I must also express my heartfelt thanks to Indian Association Hannover whose mission to promote Indo-German cultural ties and support the student community in Germany resonates deeply with me. Receiving this award during the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations is incredibly special, reminding me that Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless values of nonviolence, compassion, and service are more relevant than ever.
One of the most moving moments of the day was watching the children perform the five most important epoches of Mahatma Gandhi's life reminding us all that nonviolence is humanity’s most powerful weapon. The keynote speech by the Police President of Hannover, Ms. Gwendolin von der Osten, was equally impactful. She highlighted the alarming rise of violence among young people, driven by fear, uncertainty, and the pressures of a seemingly unfair world. Her words stressed the role of social media in amplifying these fears, and it reinforced for me that it is our moral responsibility to work within our communities to address the root cause of violence—Angst, or fear.
Together, we must stand strong against these challenges, with the spirit of "Not Me But You" always leading our way. Let us continue to uplift one another, creating a more just and peaceful world.
Thank you all for this incredible honor. 🙏

Honoring Our Ancestors During Pitru Paksha 🙏

Pitru Paksha has started, the sacred 15-day period, is a time to remember and honor our ancestors. It’s a beautiful opportunity to express gratitude and perform rituals that bring peace to their souls. As we offer prayers, food, and water to those who have passed, we not only seek blessings but also strengthen the bond between generations, ensuring that their memories live on with respect and love.

May this Pitru Paksha bring peace and fulfillment to all our families. 🌸
