Meet Jane Akech Oraya a mother of four and the Local Coordinator of the Kharjet women group. She appreciates not just the support received from STARTHILFEKENIA, but especially the great cooperation and teamwork from her group members. She further said, the emotional support she gets from the group fills her heart with joy!

Jane explains that the group enabled her to take the loan to start a small agricultural fruit and vegetable farm and expand her Dagaa (a type of local fish) selling business. This venture not only stabilized her finances and nutrition sources but expanded from local vendor to one selling to the near institutions! Through the first and second loan they got from STARTHILFEKENIA her standard of living has greatly improved, and her children have been enabled to go to school. Much thanks to STARTHILFEKEINA!

STARTHILFEKENIA is now also in Uganda!

Our project no longer focuses solely on Kenya, but now also on the neighbouring country Uganda. And with that we would like to introduce you to our new local coordinator in Uganda, Anyango Betty Cynthia!

The mother of three children has previously worked as a volunteer and is now responsible for our pilot group "Women of Rubongi". In 2024, she attended a workshop we organized in Kenya, where she learned the skills how to coordinate and to consult a group for STARTHILFEKENIA. The ladies of that group have already received trainings and started with a loan and are doing well.

A very special experience at the one-world-days🌍🎶

We look back on a wonderful day with great joy! With perfect weather, great music, and an open, interested atmosphere, we were able to present STARTHILFEKENIA and Solidarnetz international.

Our project managers Heike Hassel and Mina Attahie talked to visitors our booth about our projects, provided insights into our work, and explained exciting concepts such as “table banking”!

A big thank you to the Eine Welt Forum Düsseldorf e.V. , all contributors, musicians, and of course everyone who visited us, listened and participated.

Besucht uns bei den Düsseldorfer Eine-Welt-Tagen!

Solidarnetz international und STARTHILFEKENIA sind in diesem Jahr bei den Düsseldorfer Eine-Welt-Tagen des Eine Welt Forum Düsseldorf e.V. dabei – am 26. Juli ab 13 Uhr im Düsseldorfer Hofgarten.

Unsere Projektleiterinnen Mina Attahie und Heike Hassel erwarten Euch an unserem Infostand mit spannenden Einblicken in unsere internationalen Projekte. Lernt unsere Arbeit kennen, entdeckt inspirierende Geschichten und freut euch auf tolle Gewinne bei unserem Mitmachangebot!

Today we would like to introduce 2 new groups of women who received a microloan in December and have already started repaying it. Through our training, they have been able to start a savings programme and the loan is helping them to make investments that will increase their business. We are happy to be able to help these women and the women are proud of the increase in their income, which significantly improves their living situation.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your great support! Thanks to you, we have already been able to support 120 women on their way to self-employment in the last 12 months - and thus improve not only their own situation, but often that of their entire families. 🧑‍👩‍👧‍👦

The principle of STARTHILFEKENIA - the MERRY-GO-ROUND - enables women to build something of their own and reinvest their savings in their family and their community. And this principle is always passed on: One woman helping the next. 💪

We want to continue our work in 2024 and support even more women. That's why we continue to rely on your help. We can achieve a lot with very little!

When people from different cultures and life situations come together, unforgettably beautiful moments can arise. And that's exactly what happened in June this year when nine students from the University of Europe Hamburg and Berlin set off for Kenya with their professors Katharina Mayer and Ubbo Kügler to visit our women's groups.

NYALENYA WOMEN GROUP.

Nyalenya Womengroup in Kasewe, a location in Rachuonyo south Sub County. The group did a common business of growing and selling of potatoes as a way of improving their living standards. By receiving support from STARTHILFEKENIA their business was boosted and were able to supply their produce to other counties.

The group is super excited to have completed their loan in time and are thrilled to apply for the second loan. They are sending much appreciation to us, STARTHILEFEKINA, for walking with them in changing their status and that of the community they live in. These women are confirmed to be economically empowered and are ready to lead others, as angents of change!
