About Us
The Academy for Conflict Transformation is a learning space for peace and conflict work. We run a variety of courses for professionals to develop the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed for civil conflict transformation. Our educational work is an expression of our conviction that non-violent ways of dealing with conflicts, marked by dialogue, transformative approaches and reconciliation, are key to the field of peace work. Our courses are aimed at professionals working in the field of peace and conflict wishing to deepen their knowledge, as well as people coming from other areas of work who would like to acquire a solid foundation on peace and conflict. Our methodological approach is a dynamic combination of theory, practice, reflection and exchange, using what each participant brings with her/him as a resource for the learning process.
The Academy was founded in 2004 and is an institution within the Forum Civil Peace Service (a registered charity also known as forumCPS), which was the first group to offer Qualification Courses for the CPS (in 1997), working together with other institutions. The forumCPS carries out projects for the Civil Peace Service both in Germany and abroad. Since 2007, forumCPS has been an officially recognised deploying organisation under the Development Workers Act (EhfG).
