Big news: 100% of Cohort 5 have started their first tech jobs! 🎉

Our Cohort 5 Talents graduated in June, and as of this week, every single graduate has started their first job in tech!

We know how driven and talented our Talents are, but it never ceases to amaze us to see these women go from no prior tech experience to launching their careers so quickly.

Congratulations, Cohort 5! We’re very proud of you! ❤️

A big thank you to all our partners and donors who made these journeys possible in the first place, and to all the mentors who supported our Talents along the way. 🙌

Economic mobility shouldn‘t take generations. 📈

At Groundbreaker Talents, young African women train full-time on our residential campus and move into well-paid tech careers in just over a year. 💻

They go from an average of $10 in available monthly income to $213 in their first tech job. On average, a third of that income supports their families. ❤️

And their impact goes further. These are the professionals building the future of climate tech, agritech and healthtech. 🌍

Tackling tomorrow’s challenges means investing in talent today, especially where opportunity is hardest to access.

A pretty cool partnership just landed on campus. 😎🔌

is now bringing its industry expertise directly to our Talents on campus, with hands-on training in IoT, embedded systems, and the technology behind Africa’s booming e-mobility sector.

This is what connecting the classroom to industry looks like: real tools, real expertise, and clear view of where these skills can lead.

We recorded this on campus just before she received a job offer. Now a Groundbreaker alumna, she’s starting her first job in tech! 🥳

She describes one of her biggest lessons from her time at Groundbreaker like this:

“I used to be intimidated when I didn’t know something, but being a Groundbreaker Talent made me see it more as a window to learn more.”

At Groundbreaker Talents, our work doesn’t end when our Talents receive their Software & AI Engineering certificates. We stay closely connected with our alumni to understand what happens next – in their careers, in their teams and across the growing community of women in tech around Groundbreaker.

And one of the strongest signs that our training model works? Employers telling us they would hire another Groundbreaker Talent. 💚

Our Talents attended the 3rd Annual National ICT Summit at the National ICT Innovation Hub in Kampala, where the conversation focused on AI innovation and digital infrastructure.

Uganda has set an ambitious goal through its Tenfold Growth Strategy: growing the economy from nearly $50 billion in 2023 to $500 billion by 2040.

For our Talents, being at events like the ICT Summit gives them the chance to hear what is shaping Uganda’s digital economy, meet people working across the sector and see where their own skills can contribute.
