On April 18, the ceremonial presentation of the Festschrift in honor of Professor Heinrich Menkhaus on the occasion of his 70th birthday took place at the German-Japanese Center Berlin.

Upon reaching the age of 70, professors at Meiji University are granted emeritus status. Heinrich Menkhaus, our Chairman, taught there until March 31, 2026.

This Festschrift honors Professor Menkhaus for his outstanding academic achievements, his many years of teaching, and his exceptional contributions to German-Japanese legal relations.

His work has left a lasting impact not only in Germany but also in Japan. This is further evidenced by the fact that two additional Festschriften have been dedicated to him in Japan.

We congratulate Heinrich Menkhaus on his life’s work and wish him all the best for the future.
