A look back at 🇩🇪 🇪🇺 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
On September 4, the Deutsch-Amerikanische Juristen-Vereinigung (DAJV e.V.) - German-American Lawyers' Association's Transatlantic Legal Conference brought together lawyers, academics and business representatives at Schloss Wahn in Cologne to discuss key transatlantic legal and economic issues.
Organized with the Institute for Sustainability, Corporate Law and Reporting (INUR) at the University of Cologne, the conference focused on four areas: trade tensions, sanctions and dispute resolution; regulatory complexity and competitiveness; European defense technology and US capital; and climate litigation in the United States and Germany.
Across the panels, one point became clear: legal developments on both sides of the Atlantic can no longer be viewed in isolation. Trade policy affects disputes, regulation influences investment, security considerations shape transactions and litigation can reach beyond the individual case.
The day concluded at Kulturgut Eltzhof with a dinner keynote by The Right Honourable Alex Chalk, King’s Counsel, Partner at Jones Day and former Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom, who placed these issues in the broader context of the international rules-based order.
Our sincere thanks go to all speakers, moderators and participants, and to INUR for the excellent cooperation.
A comprehensive recap of Hashtag , with details on all four panels and an extensive photo gallery, is available in the DAJV Event Archive: https://lnkd.in/eceaAzt8 . A German-language summary can be found in the comments below.
