🎭 KING LEAR – in English

We’re delighted to support our fellow English-language theatre groups Vigilante Theatre and Circe Theatre, who are bringing Shakespeare’s "King Lear" to the Brotfabrik Bühne Bonn from 28–30 October.

🌍🎭 What a wonderful day at the Begegnungsfest in Bonn! ❤️

Yesterday, we had a fantastic time at the Begegnungsfest, Vielfalt in the Bonn Marktplatz, celebrating the diversity and international community that makes Bonn such a special city.

Our stand was busy throughout the day, and we met so many lovely people who were interested to discover The Bonn Players and find out about our upcoming November production, "The Game’s Afoot" by Ken Ludwig. We were also delighted to welcome several new people to our mailing list, as well as some potential new members!

And then it was time to take to the stage… 🎶

We performed four musical theatre numbers:

🎵 *Ol' Man River* from *Show Boat*
🎵 *As Long as He Needs Me* from *Oliver!*
🎵 *Some Enchanted Evening* from *South Pacific*
🎵 *Anything You Can Do* from *Annie Get Your Gun*

The audience seemed to enjoy them enormously – and we certainly enjoyed performing them! ❤️

Musical theatre isn't traditionally what we are best known for, but it's an area we're currently exploring. So the Begegnungsfest gave us a wonderful opportunity to test the waters and see how our audience responds. And the answer seems to be: very positively! 😊

Who knows? Perhaps there will be more musical theatre from The Bonn Players in the future…

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand, chatted with us, signed up to hear more about what we do, or simply enjoyed our performances. And thank you to the organizers of the Begegnungsfest for creating such a wonderful celebration of diversity in Bonn.

We hope to see many of you again at the theatre! 🎭❤️

🚨 Theatre and culture in Bonn are under threat – and this affects all of us.

Recent proposals from the City of Bonn to examine the possible closure of the Schauspiel are deeply concerning. As The Bonn Players, we stand firmly behind the Bonn theatre community and the importance of maintaining a vibrant, diverse theatre landscape in our city.
Because this is about more than one theatre company or one venue.
Bonn is an international and multicultural city, and theatre provides an important space for people to come together, experience stories, exchange ideas and see themselves represented. That includes performances in German, English, French, Spanish, Ukrainian and many other languages.
And the consequences could reach far beyond the municipal theatre. The Brotfabrik Bühne Bonn is currently the home of around 25 community theatre groups and other independent performing artists. For many of us in the "Freie Theaterszene", it is an essential – and sometimes the only – place where we can perform for audiences in Bonn. If it goes, we all go. No more theatre productions in various languages, as we'll have nowhere to perform them.
A strong and diverse theatre ecosystem needs both professional and independent theatre. The loss or weakening of one part inevitably affects the others.
🎭 Culture is not a nice-to-have.
It is part of what makes a city a community.

We therefore support the call to maintain Bonn's theatre landscape in all its diversity – and we hope that the voices of theatre-makers, audiences and the wider cultural community will be heard.

Bonn needs theatre. All of it. ❤️

🎉 **We’re here!** 🎉

The Marktplatz is already buzzing as preparations get underway for this year’s **Begegnungsfest** — and we’re very excited to be part of it! 🌍❤️

Today is all about celebrating the **diversity of Bonn** and the wonderful multicultural community of people who live and work in our city.

Come and find **The Bonn Players** at our stand **right in front of the stage**. Come and say hello, pick up a flyer for our November production, and find out more about your local English-language community theatre group! 🎭

And at **14:30**, we’ll be taking to the stage with a selection of **musical numbers**. 🎶

We’re looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces — and hopefully meeting plenty of new ones too!

✨ **A truly outstanding evening at the theatre!** ✨

We went to see Schiller’s "Maria Stuart" last night at the Brotfabrik Bühne Bonn, and were absolutely blown away by this production. The staging was incredibly inventive, atmospheric and professionally executed, creating a powerful theatrical experience from beginning to end.

Even though my German isn’t good enough to catch every single word, I was completely drawn into the story. Knowing the history and the basic storyline helped me follow what was happening — but it was the staging, the direction and the strength of the performances that made the evening so compelling.

And what a cast! 👏 Every member of the ensemble deserves huge congratulations for their excellent performances. There was such commitment, intensity and presence on stage.

🎭 There are still THREE opportunities to see this production — and you really don’t want to miss it!

Whether you know Schiller’s "Maria Stuart" well or, like me, are experiencing it primarily through the production itself, this is theatre that draws you in and stays with you. This is one not to miss!

**Highly recommended!** ❤️

🎭 **Schiller’s *Maria Stuart* – a production not to be missed!**

Theater Dramaturgisch Wertvoll brings Friedrich Schiller’s powerful classic *Maria Stuart* to the Brotfabrik from **Tuesday, 15 to Friday, 18 September**, with performances beginning at **20:00** — in German.

The play brings two formidable women face to face: Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, imprisoned in England, and Queen Elizabeth I. What follows is a gripping struggle of power, politics, faith, freedom and personal rivalry, as the fate of one queen rests in the hands of the other.

We had the opportunity to watch an excerpt last night, and we were genuinely blown away by the **extraordinary acting**. The intensity, presence and emotional depth of the performances were absolutely captivating.

If you love powerful theatre, compelling characters and Schiller at his finest, **this is one not to be missed!** 👏🎭

What a truly wonderful evening celebrating the Brotfabrik Bühne Bonn's 40th birthday! 🎭❤️

We were absolutely thrilled to be part of this special event, celebrating alongside so many talented artists and friends of this incredible venue.

The Bonn Players performed "Gray Matter" by Jeanette D. Farr featuring Mary Senguel and Tamar Afifi and directed by Tracy Tollmann. This was warmly received by the audience, and we couldn't have been more delighted with their response. It was equally wonderful to see "She Speaks", Circe's powerful and entertaining piece, performed by three of our own Bonn Players members: Chris Wilde, Isabell Piroth and Tracy Tollmann, directed by Sepideh Tafazzoli, choreography by Vanessa Basilio de Luca.

Both performances were a privilege to be part of, and we were proud to contribute to an evening dedicated to celebrating the arts and supporting the Brotfabrik.

Donations were generously made throughout the evening in support of the much-needed renovations, and we are now holding our breath to find out just how much was raised! Every contribution, large or small, will make a difference.

The Brotfabrik is not just a venue for us – it is our theatrical home. We were honoured to stand alongside others who share our love for this special place and our determination to see it continue to thrive for many years to come.

And finally, a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful audience members. Your support, enthusiasm and generosity mean everything to us. Without you, we simply wouldn't exist. ❤️

🥵🎭 Another hot night at Bayview!

Last night's performance of *Waiting for God* took place in sizzling temperatures. Thankfully, the laughter flowed just as freely as the perspiration, and our wonderful audience responded brilliantly to the humour, wit, and heart of the play.

If it's any consolation, we can assure you that it's even hotter under the stage lights!

With the audience laughing along every step of the way, the heat became more than worth enduring, and once again we were reminded just how special live theatre can be.

And now there is just **one performance left!**

This afternoon's final matinee gives you one last opportunity to visit Bayview Retirement Village and experience this hilarious and heartwarming production. The cast and crew are looking forward to giving our final audience a performance to remember.
