From Baku to Abu Dhabi, the latest GWOPA newsletter follows how water and sanitation are shaping the urban housing roadmap towards the 2026 United Nations Water Conference.

This edition highlights the UN-Habitat Arena discussion on housing, water and sanitation, the formal exchange of the UN-Habitat–Asian Development Bank Memorandum of Understanding, water-responsive urbanism for African cities and young people imagining water-resilient futures.

Insights from Baku: GWOPA at WUF13 | Edition 3 is out

Water and sanitation services are shaping some of the key conversations at the World Urban Forum – from adequate housing and resilient cities to sanitation, swimmable urban waters and the road to the 2026 United Nations Water Conference.

The third edition of GWOPA/UN-Habitat’s WUF13 newsletter brings together highlights, voices and reflections from Baku, including how utilities are helping connect water, sanitation and urban development in practice. It also features perspectives on sanitation as a foundation for safe housing, the idea of swimmable cities and a new interview in the series Two and a Half Questions for WOPpers, with Chris Cormency of UNICEF.

Partnership Matters: Utility-to-Utility Collaboration for Stronger Service Delivery

How can utilities strengthen resilience, improve services and learn faster from each other?

Join GWOPA at the 2026 Danube Water Forum for a session on the power of utility-to-utility collaboration, regional communities of practice and Water Operators’ Partnerships.
