🪧 Aus einer militarisierten Gesellschaft während der Apartheid entstand in Südafrika eine starke gewaltfreie Bewegung, in der sich verschiedene Teile der Gesellschaft zusammenschlossen, um die Wehrpflicht abzulehnen und Alternativen vorzuschlagen, die echten Frieden schaffen. ☮️ Hier kommt das ehrenamtliche Engagement ins Spiel und entfaltet sein volles Potenzial für die Friedensförderung.

Mit dieser bemerkenswerten und positiven Erkenntnis aus Südafrika schließen wir unsere Reihe zum Internationalen Tag der Gewaltfreiheit ab.

Die meisten Länder in Europa haben die Wehrpflicht abgeschafft, erwägen nun aber, sie wieder einzuführen. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Niederlande und Deutschland. 📣 Friedens-NGOs, darunter auch SCI, sowie Studierende weigern sich dagegen und organisieren sich, um ihrer Stimme Gehör zu verschaffen!

🌱 Who cares for the planet?
Erasmus+ Youth Exchange on Exploring Gender, Nature, and Global Crises

📅 7–13 December 2026
📍 Heideruh, Buchholz (Germany)

How are gender, climate change, colonial histories and social inequality connected? And what can more just relationships with people and nature look like?

Join us for a week of workshops, discussions, outdoor learning and creative methods exploring:

🌍 Climate & environmental justice
⚧️ Gender, queerfeminist & intersectional perspectives
🌿 Indigenous perspectives & relationships with nature
✊ Power, activism & social movements
💭 Imagining just futures

👥 Who? Young people aged 18–30 living in Germany, Slovenia, Estonia or Belgium. No previous experience needed — just an interest in the topics. We particularly encourage people affected by discrimination to apply.

💶 All travel, accommodation, food and programme costs are covered by Erasmus+. Flights are not reimbursed — we travel by public transport or carpool.

♿ We aim to accommodate different access needs.

Who are the people behind our volunteer camps?

👋 In this new series, we’re getting to know the people who make our volunteer camps happen: our camp coordinators.

Goodbye Angela!

Last week we had an office farewell party to say goodbye to our ESC volunteer Angela.
Angela started her time at SCI Germany in April and supported the international school project on the topic theme ‘United Youth: Global Perspectives on Classism and Climate Change’. She also worked in the area of communications conducting interviews with participants in our programmes and camp leaders.

We appreciate her time with us a lot and thank her very much for her work!

🌊 SURFING THE SHAME 2 – Erasmus+ Training

Would you like to explore your relationship with emotions and experiment with new communication tools?

From October 28 to November 4, 2026, SCI Italia () is organizing an international training program focused on emotions, awareness, and communication through Nonviolent Communication, Teatro dell’Invisibile, yoga, breathing exercises, meditation, and non-formal education.

Meals, lodging, and travel reimbursement are provided by the Erasmus+ project.
