Happy ! 🌍✨

Today is a global call to step up . How do we build a resilient future? By looking to the land.

Nature is our frontline climate solution, delivering multiple wins for the planet and people at the same time:
🌳 Forests, wetlands, and soils are our biggest carbon sinks.
🏙️ Urban nature can cool cities by up to 4°C!
📉 Protecting ecosystems avoids billions in disaster losses annually.

Can drones heal the planet? 🌍🚁

In our latest episode of the Land Talks podcast, we sit down with Fernando De Lucca Pezella, co-founder of Ceres Seeding, who is using drone technology to restore 10,000 hectares of degraded land in Brazil.

We dive deep into how technology can scale ecological restoration, tackle land degradation, and empower local communities at the same time. If you are interested in the intersection of innovation, biodiversity, and social entrepreneurship in emerging markets, this conversation is for you.

The planet doesn't argue. It doesn't negotiate. It sends signals. 🌍

Record-breaking heat, intense wildfires, and disappearing glaciers are clear warning signs that we are dangerously close to the 1.5°C limit. But if you listen closely, another signal is rising: the solutions taking root right beneath our feet.

❗️Tomorrow is World Environment Day.

👉 Swipe through to see why healthy soils, forests and wetlands are our ultimate frontline climate defense. It is time to send a signal back.

Who is leading the climate transition? The ecopreneurs on the ground. 🌱

Recently, at the Impacta Mais event in Brazil, we saw firsthand how local innovation is driving the global Restoration Economy 🇧🇷

This event also marked a major milestone: showcasing our newly signed strategic partnership (MoU) with Impact Hub Network. Together, we are strengthening collaboration to accelerate private sector engagement, innovation, and investment in land restoration.

📌 As part of this mission, the G20 Global Land Initiative sponsored six incredible ecopreneur - including alumni from our Instituto Terra training and our Youth Ecopreneurs (YECOs) - giving them a vital platform to connect with partners, investors, and ecosystem actors:

🌱 Emerson Neves (Odorata Forest Carbon, YECO)
🌱 Fernando De Lucca Pezella (Ceres Seeding, YECO)
🌱 Cláudia Marques (ECOSOUL: planning, consulting and environmental solutions)
🌱 Mayris Nascimento (Nosso Mangue)
🌱 Flávio André Omena Baracho
🌱 Márcia Werle (BIOASSU | Bioindústria Integrada)

🎤 Our own Paula Padrino Vilela also took the stage for the panel “Território, Clima e Justiça: Quem Lidera a Transição?”, highlighting how global policies must directly support these local businesses to create real economic opportunities and strengthen communities.

We are just scratching the surface of what’s possible. Stay connected with us to see how these ecopreneurs are turning local action into global impact! 🌍🤝

Day 1 at the World Living Soils Forum: Bridging policy and green business 🌱🌍

We hit the ground running in Arles today alongside Moët Hennessy and ChangeNow - The largest event for the planet. The mission? Finding soil regeneration solutions that actually work for everyone.

📌 Morning Insights: The Policy Push
Louise Baker, Director of the Global Mechanism at United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, took the stage to highlight a critical need: if we want to scale land restoration, we must build stronger synergies between the three Rio Conventions and bridge the gap between the public and private sectors.

📌Afternoon Action: The Innovators
We shifted from policy to practice as two of our Youth Ecopreneurs (YECOs) - Julia Mensa (Nunatak Biotech) and Willie Ng (Global Cerah) - delivered powerful pitches to a packed audience!

Co-funded by the G20 GLI and ChangeNOW, these young founders are proving that the solutions to land degradation are already here.

Tomorrow, our third YECO, Sarah Msambira (Small Farm Cities Africa), takes the stage before the final winners are announced at the closing ceremony. Stay tuned! 🤩

During Africa Day 2026 commemorations, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification Executive Secretary Yasmine Fouad delivered a critical reminder to global leaders: we cannot secure our water without first healing our land.

The reality we are facing:

⚠️ Up to 40% of the world’s land is already degraded.
⚠️ We are losing at least 100 million hectares of productive land every year.
⚠️ This degradation costs the global economy nearly $900 billion annually.

To achieve the African Union's Agenda 2063 and build global climate resilience, we must treat land as the essential infrastructure for water security. Healthy soils, wetlands, and rangelands are the natural systems that capture, store, and filter the water we rely on.

As we look toward UNCCD COP17 Mongolia this August, this vital land-water nexus will be front and center.

Restoring land restores water - and restores hope. 🤝

The EU just changed the game for land restoration. 🌍🇪🇺

The new Nature Restoration Law isn’t just a suggestion - it’s a legally binding mandate to restore 30% of European Union land and sea by 2030. And it is about to unlock a massive economic opportunity across the continent.

We will be at EU Green Week 2026 (June 3-4) to dive into how the private sector and governments are building the Restoration Economy!

The ultimate awards ceremony for the systems that keep us alive. 🏆🌍

Forests, wetlands, soils, grasslands, and peatlands are the real MVPs of global resilience. They filter our water, store our carbon, and feed the world.

❗️But as we honor the ecosystems that sustain life on land, there is one final category: The Decider.

👉 Swipe through to see the winners - and why the future of these landscapes is entirely up to us. What happens next?

Water is the foundation of the Africa we want. But it starts with the land. 🌍💧

Last night in New York, the global community gathered to commemorate Africa Day 2026. Joined by leaders from the African Union and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, the evening was a powerful celebration of the continent’s future. During the addresses, a critical truth was underscored: water sits at the very center of peace and security.

But celebration must drive action.

Today, the conversation continues at the UN's Africa Dialogue Series, focusing on harnessing the continent's water resources. Yet, as we look toward these solutions, we must confront a fundamental reality: you cannot achieve sustainable development, build climate resiliencUN Office of the Special Adviser on Africa. And African Unioncure water without restoring degraded land.

Healthy soils and resilient ecosystems are the natural infrastructure that captures, stores, and filters our water. At the G20 Global Land Initiative, accelerating this systemic land restoration is at the core of what we do.
This critical land-water nexus will take center stage at the upcoming UNCCD COP17 in Mongolia. If we want to secure the future of water, we must first heal the land beneath our feet.🤝
