Lerne unsere erste Skill IT Up-Kohorte kennen 💫

Skill IT Up ist ein vollständig online durchgeführtes, sechsmonatiges Upskilling-Programm für die IT-Branche, für Menschen mit Migrations- und Fluchterfahrung, die bereits über IT-Grundkenntnisse verfügen und sich spezialisieren möchten.

👥 68 Teilnehmende
⚖️ 50/50 Geschlechterverteilung
🎯 Top-Berufsziele: IT-Operations und KI-unterstützte Rollen – genau das, wofür das Programm gemacht ist

Als Nächstes: Workshops mit externen Expert:innen zu KI-Governance, der europäischen KI-Landschaft und Arbeitsrecht, sowie eine eigene Session zu Frauen in der Tech-Branche.

Das Projekt „Skill IT Up” wird im Rahmen des Programms „IQ – Integration durch Qualifizierung” durch das Bundesministerium für Arbeit und Soziales und die Europäische Union über den Europäischen Sozialfonds Plus (ESF Plus) gefördert. Es wird zusätzlich finanziert durch die Senatsverwaltung für Arbeit, Soziales, Gleichstellung, Integration, Vielfalt und Antidiskriminierung des Landes Berlin.

A new legal name. The same Kiron.

As our work has grown over the years, we've updated our legal name to better reflect who we are today.

We're now officially Kiron Education gGmbH.

What does it take to turn learning into career opportunities?

Last week, 15 THRIVE learners joined us in Munich for a day of learning, networking, and career insights with our THRIVE partners, Accor and Banyan Software Foundation.

The day began at Accor, where learners explored:
✨ how one of the world's leading hospitality groups approaches people, culture, and recruitment
🤖 how technology and AI are being used within the business
💼 practical insights into hiring, assessments, and what recruiters look for
🤝 conversations over lunch with employees from different teams

In the afternoon, the group visited Banyan Software to learn how the organization acquires and builds software businesses, hear from the team, and connect through an open networking session.

Experiences like these help bridge the gap between learning and employment. They give learners the opportunity to ask questions, expand their professional networks, and gain first-hand insights into today's workplace.

Kiron’s program, THRIVE, wins the European Digital Skills Award 2026! 🏆✨

We are extremely honored to share that THRIVE, our professional upskilling program for refugee and migrant women, has won the European Digital Skills Award 2026 in the Women in ICT Careers category.

THRIVE was launched in 2023 because we saw that despite the enormous talent, experience, and ambition of women with refugee and migrant backgrounds, they continually faced barriers to accessing training, professional networks, and employment opportunities, and remained underrepresented in digital and ICT careers.
Since then, the program has successfully supported more than 1,000 women from over 70 nationalities in building digital, language, and professional skills and strengthening their path into employment.

Thank you to the European Commission and, especially, to the jury for believing in this work. This award is an important recognition of our commitment to creating opportunities for women to learn, grow, and succeed in the digital economy.

None of this would be possible without the incredible people behind THRIVE: the THRIVE team, volunteers, engaged employers, labor market experts, implementation and sparring partners - you all have helped shape and strengthen the program from the very beginning. Above all, we are grateful to the remarkable women who have joined THRIVE and brought their ambition, talent, and determination to the program.

Today is World Refugee Day, marking 75 years since the 1951 United Nations Refugee Convention, which established the internationally recognized definition of a refugee, and the right to fundamental rights, including education and work. At Kiron, we see these rights as deeply connected, forming the foundation for people rebuilding their lives in new communities.

Our theme for 2026 World Refugee Day is courage, creativity, and community. In the days leading up to this global day of recognition, we held two events: an online global panel and an evening in Berlin in collaboration with SoundCloud, focusing specifically on creativity with a DJ workshop, a panel, and networking over music, food, and drinks.

What an incredible evening. 💫

Yesterday, we came together to celebrate World Refugee Day, and we're still feeling inspired by the conversations, connections, and energy in the room.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their experiences, asked thoughtful questions, danced, connected, and helped make the event so special.

Special thanks to our partner SoundCloud for helping bring this event to life and for supporting spaces where creativity can foster belonging and connection.

We're also grateful to Femme Bass Mafia for leading an engaging DJ workshop and creating a welcoming space for participants to explore music, self-expression, and new skills.

Thank you to our moderator, Richard Porath, for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging conversation, and to our panelists, for sharing honest reflections on finding community, navigating new beginnings, and the role creativity can play in building a sense of belonging. Your stories reminded us that community is something we create together.

Events like these are only possible because of the many people behind the scenes who contribute their time, expertise, and enthusiasm. We're deeply grateful to everyone who helped make the evening a success.
