🌍 EPEKA Association in Berlin! 🎨✨

Members of EPEKA Association are currently participating in the Roma Art of Assembly 2024 event in Berlin, organized by the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture - ERIAC. The event, held on December 5–6, 2024, at the prestigious Akademie der Künste, is a hybrid gathering that unites members, partners, and supporters to celebrate Roma heritage, culture, and the collective power of the Roma community.

The Roma Art of Assembly is not just an event—it's a proclamation of unity and an inspiring call to create and share a nurturing space for Roma culture and identity.

🎥 As part of the event, a video presentation provided insights into the Romheritage project, in which EPEKA Association proudly participates.

🌍 EPEKA at the European Migration Forum!

Our President, Štefan Simončič, is proud to represent the EPEKA Association at the 9th European Migration Forum in Brussels on November 28-29, 2024. This year, the forum focuses on enhancing the role of civil society in implementing the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

EPEKA is presenting an innovative approach to supporting unaccompanied minors. Instead of relying solely on legal guardianship, we advocate for fostering solutions that prioritize care and integration.

The event gathers stakeholders from across Europe to discuss migration challenges and share forward-thinking ideas. Together, we strive to build inclusive policies and practical solutions.

🎥 EU Youth Cinema: Green Deal Maribor 🌱

➡ We successfully hosted another EU Youth Cinema: Green Deal event in Maribor, where we united youth, education, and cinema in support of sustainable development.

🍀 Highlights from the event 🍀

👩‍🏫 Nataša Lombergar, from 🇸🇮 the Ministry of Education introduced over 300 young participants to the work of the Office for Youth of the Republic of Slovenia - Urad RS za mladino and presented the mlad.si portal, a key resource for youth information.

🎬 Uja Irgolič, film editor, inspired us with her perspective on cinema and film as a powerful tool for conveying meaningful messages and stories that can change the world.

Members from the organization Epeka Slovenia participated in Youth exchange titled "Echoes of Environment and Digitalisation" from november 1st to november 8th.

It was hosted by EMOTiC - Training and Consulting organisation in Vienna, Austria🇦🇹 and brought together teams from Latvia🇱🇻, Greece🇬🇷, Croatia🇭🇷, Czechia🇨🇿, Slovakia🇸🇰, Serbia🇷🇸 and Slovenia🇸🇮.

Each day, participants explored different themes and activities. Through practical sessions on environmental awareness, they discussed current issues and explored ways digitalization can enhance immersive learning experiences.

By the end of the week, participants developed their own audio guides, mastering skills in digital creativity and outdoor education, bridging technology with sustainability for impactful youth work.

The project is co-funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme, the Slovenian Office for Youth - Urad RS za mladino and the Municipality of Maribor - Mestna občina Maribor.

Kljub slabemu vremenu smo uspešno izvedli dogodek "Vzpostavitev visoke grede z začimbami in zelišči," ki ga je vodila strokovnjakinja, magistrica inženirka hortikulture Lucija Kinkel. 🌸 Veseli smo, da ste se kljub dežnim kapljam pridružili pri postavitvi visokih gred pred našimi prostori in skupaj zasadili čudovita zelišča in začimbnice! 🌿💚

Day 3 and final day of the Erasmus+ KA210 project 'START the YOUTH ORG - Support the start of youth organisation'

We started the day with a visit to the Youth Office in Maribor, where the head of the office shared insights on the challenges and initiatives of local youth organizations.📝

Later, we continued with group work focused on environmental sustainability. 🌿Participants were divided into groups, where they developed project proposals, carefully evaluating goals, risks, budgets, and timelines. The day concluded with each group presenting their creative solutions, followed by the awarding of certificates.

We want to thank all the participants and partners for their involvement, and we wish everyone a safe journey home!

Day 2 of the Erasmus+ KA210 project 'START the YOUTH ORG - Support the start of youth organisation'

The day began with a meeting at the premises of EPEKA. We were introduced to the organization and learned about the various projects they are involved in.
Following this, we had a guided tour of Maribor, where we explored the city and its history.
The day ended with a meeting with the president of EPEKA, who shared some interesting things about housing cooperatives and their impact, giving us a deeper understanding of this innovative approach to sustainable living.🏡

Transnational meeting for the Erasmus+ KA210 project ‘START the YOUTH ORG – Support the start of youth organisation' project is currently happening in Maribor. We are hosting partners from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, Spain 🇪🇸, and Italy 🇮🇹, and together we’re working on developing youth organisations with a focus on sustainability. On the first day, we looked at the progress of the project and worked on creating modules to help youth workers set up European networks. We also discussed challenges and planned our next steps. We ended the day with a cultural dinner in Baščaršija.

Thank you also to the restaurant “Domača hiša” for the hospitality and excellent food.

"📢 New Toolbox Out 👀

We are so excited to finally present to you our Toolbox with activities for promoting Mental Health Awareness and Well-being!! 🥰

This is the result from the Good Practices shared between 5 organisations from 🇮🇸🇬🇷🇪🇸🇸🇮🇵🇹 over the past year.💪

We have compiled a variety of methods and activity ideas aimed at assisting youth workers and organisations in promoting active youth participation and encouraging positive dialogue around mental health issues.❤️‍🩹

It includes 8 methods for engaging with young people, complete with easy-to-follow, step-by-step descriptions and necessary materials.📚📖

The objective is to engage young people in meaningful, appealing non-formal education activities while strengthening connections within our local communities 🌱

From Inside Out is an EU-funded project for small-scale partnerships in youth under the 🇪🇺 ⁠⁠Erasmus+⁠⁠⁠ programme with the purpose of empowering youth workers from 5 European countries, Iceland (SEEDS Iceland - ), Greece (You in Europe - .in.europe_), Portugal (Psientifica - ), Slovenia (EPEKA Slovenia - ), and Spain (Ayuntamiento de Maracena - ) and to initiate a positive dialogue around the topics of mental health & well-being with young people.

🎨 Art for Healing: A Huge Success! 🧠

We’re thrilled to announce that our recent Mental Health Awareness Campaign workshop for art teachers was a resounding success! 🌟

During the event, educators came together to learn how art can be used as a powerful tool for helping young people express their emotions and navigate their mental health challenges. Through hands-on activities and expert-led discussions, participants discovered how to create safe, creative spaces where students can feel free to express themselves and find healing through their artwork.

A special thank you to all the art teachers who attended and shared their passion for supporting young minds through creativity. Together, we’re fostering a future where students not only grow as artists but also as emotionally resilient individuals. 💙

➡ On July 30th, 2024, we marked an important event at the Maribor Synagogue, dedicated to Roma culture and the remembrance of the genocide against Roma and Sinti.
➡ We began with a lecture titled "Opportunities for Roma Cultural Heritage in Slovenia," where we presented an initiative for the promotion and development of Roma culture, language, and identity in Slovenia.
➡ The event continued with a memorial ceremony dedicated to all Roma victims of N**i persecution during World War II.
🎷 🎸 🥁 Following that, we were thrilled by the energy and exceptional musical performance of the band Gypsy Groove. With their original and traditional Balkan Roma music, interwoven with elements of jazz, reggae, funk, and other styles, they created an unforgettable atmosphere, emphasizing the importance of unity, equality, and human rights. 🎶 🎙 🎸.
