One of the best things about being part of Global Women Fresh is seeing our community connect across the globe. 🌎💕

At the Sun World International Global Field Days in Delano, California, our community came together once again, with our founder Julie Escobar meeting Anna Giacovelli during this special gathering of growers and industry leaders from around the world. 🍇

Events like these are a wonderful reminder of what makes our global community so special. Being together in the field, sharing experiences, exchanging ideas and building relationships creates connections that go far beyond business.

At Global Women Fresh, we love seeing women from across our international community connect and support one another. 💚

📍New location! Our IFPA happy hour has moved to the Hyatt Regency Bar.

We scouted the bars around the convention center so you don’t have to, and the Hyatt Regency won. It’s the quickest spot to reach after a long day on the show floor, so you can spend less time walking and more time connecting.

Join Global Women Fresh Thursday, October 15 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. 🥂

Cocktail or mocktail, come as you are. It’s an hour to celebrate each other and connect with the women shaping the future of fresh produce. Allies are welcome too!

We’re excited to welcome Dioni Suarez, Peruvian agricultural business leader, General Manager of Kivinaki and representative of IPD - Import Promotion Desk, as a speaker on our panel at Fruit Attraction this October.

For Dioni, agriculture is personal. The proud daughter of farmers, she has been connected to the land from an early age. Her father remains her greatest inspiration and guide.

Her journey has brought important firsts for Peruvian agriculture. She helped pioneer organic orange certification in Peru and achieved the country’s first export of organic oranges to Europe.

Now, her ambition is to see produce from Peru’s Central Jungle recognized across Europe for its origin and quality. Dioni leads with honesty and transparency, and believes family farming can compete on the global stage without losing its roots.

Her passion for agriculture is matched by a deep connection to home: “My family, the countryside and my animals. That is where I find peace, identity and strength.”

We can’t wait to hear Dioni’s perspective and bringing her passion for Peruvian agriculture to our panel at Fruit Attraction.

A voice for growth, inclusion and the future of agriculture: we’re pleased to have Marianela Ubilla joining our speaker line-up at Fruit Attraction this October.

As an agronomist, CEO of Agzulasa Cia. Ltda and Director of AEBE - Asoc. de Exportadores de Banano del Ecuador, Marianela has built her career around international trade and creating opportunities across Ecuador’s agricultural sector.

Becoming the first woman President of AEBE was a defining moment and one that reinforced a belief close to her heart: “women can occupy spaces of decision-making.”

Now, her ambition is to help build a more sustainable and inclusive agricultural sector, with more women and young people stepping into leadership.

Her advice is refreshingly direct: “Take decisions with information, assume the risks and don’t let fear paralyze you.”

With a passion for growing businesses and teams, Marianela is focused on creating opportunities with a real impact on people and families across Ecuador.

We’re very much looking forward to hearing her perspective on the banana industry, business growth and the future of agriculture this October.

We’re getting to know the people behind our panel at Fruit Attraction this October, and today it’s Charlotte Knowles, MCIM, Group Marketing & Communications Director at AgroBerries.

With a career spanning business development, category management and marketing and communications, Charlie has developed a broad understanding of the fresh produce industry and the people behind it.

She’s inspired by the people around her and a strong believer that looking after people and building successful companies go hand in hand.

Her best piece of business advice says it all: “Self-care is not selfish — Healthier employees help create better businesses”

Charlie’s people-focused approach extends beyond her everyday responsibilities, including through BerryWorld’s Booberries initiative and its work supporting breast cancer awareness.

Away from work, her biggest passion is simple: spending time with the people she loves and making memories together.

We can’t wait to hear Charlie’s perspective and see where her experience takes the conversation this October.

When did being busy become something we aspire to?

Being needed, having no time to spare and constantly moving between priorities can feel like evidence that we’re doing something right.

In fresh produce, there are a myriad of reasons why work can be intense.
The pace of the industry is dictated by seasons, markets, weather, logistics and decisions that simply will not wait.

But that makes it even more important to distinguish between a demanding period and a permanent way of working.

When everything becomes urgent, it becomes difficult to give the important things the attention they deserve.

There is less time to think properly and less opportunity to step back and ask whether the way we’re working is actually effective.

True productivity means becoming more deliberate about what deserves our time in the first place.

A full calendar tells us how much is happening. It doesn’t tell us whether the right things are happening.
