Why are most women better at celebrating other people than themselves?

We can confidently tell a colleague how well she’s done, recommend her for a promotion or simply celebrate her success.

When the attention turns to us, on the other hand, many of us instinctively downplay it.

“I was just doing my job.”

“It wasn’t that big of a deal.”

And of course, other people will often help us along the way.
But acknowledging their contribution doesn’t mean we should erase our own.

As female professionals we have to feel comfortable saying,
“I worked hard for this.”

Take the credit. Celebrate the milestone. Be proud of your achievements.

Don’t wait for someone else to give you permission to honor your own successes.

At Global Women Fresh we always look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of female professionals, no matter how big or small. 💚

When did having a hobby become another form of self-improvement?

Women are expected to make the most of their time. Turn our passions into something that earns money. Exercise so we have the energy to take care of others.

But what if our hobbies don’t need to become another obligation or opportunity to be productive?

A hobby can simply be something that belongs to us. Something we enjoy without measuring its value or wondering where it might lead.

For women balancing careers, relationships, family and countless other responsibilities, having something that exists exclusively for pleasure is more important than one might think.

We don’t have to be good at it. We don’t have to monetise it.
We can just enjoy it. That’s the whole point.

Global Women Fresh is not just a community for women to share their experiences in fresh produce, but also a space where women can discuss their passions freely. 💚

We’re also excited to announce our first confirmed panelists:

We’re delighted to introduce our newest Ambassador Member, Georgina Sanahuja Solsona, and welcome her to the Global Women Fresh community! 💙

Georgina’s relationship with agriculture began early. From picking almonds as a child and selling fresh fruit at farmers markets in Catalonia, to researching tropical fruit diseases in South Florida and now working with blueberries on a global scale at Fall Creek, each chapter of her journey has deepened her connection to the industry.

“Over time, agriculture is not only part of my career, it is part of who I am and where I come from,” she shares.

Driven by curiosity and a passion for sustainable progress, she is inspired by the opportunities to rethink how we grow and create nutritional value for communities around the world.

At the heart of her approach is collaboration. Georgina values the power of bringing together different perspectives and ideas, knowing that meaningful progress happens when people learn from one another.

This vision is beautifully captured in a quote she shared from Brenda Schoepp:

“Everyone needs a farmer, three times a day.”

An excellent reminder of agriculture’s essential role in our lives and the importance of continuing to move the industry forward.

We’re so proud to welcome Georgina to Global Women Fresh and look forward to celebrating her perspective and seeing the impact she will bring to our growing global community. 🌱 🙌

🌺 We’d love to welcome more people to join us as ambassadors. If you’re interested, we’d be excited to have you with us! 🌺

When we talk about agriculture, conversations often center on innovation and sustainability.

Yet one of the sector’s greatest strengths has always been the women who keep it moving forward. From supporting farm operations and introducing new ideas to strengthening local economies and communities, women play a vital role across agriculture.

A study by FLIARA, examining women farmers across ten European countries, shows how women are transforming the sector by creating new opportunities and strengthening the way agriculture operates. Their work is helping businesses and rural communities grow and remain resilient in a changing world.

These contributions deserve far greater recognition.

A recent Fruitnet article highlights this particularly well through the work of Manal Saleh, founder of Blue Moon, who will serve as a juror for this year’s Agraya Changemaker Awards. With more than 20 years of experience working with smallholders and agricultural supply chains, Manal has seen firsthand how empowering women creates lasting benefits for entire communities.

In recognition of the UN International Year of the Woman Farmer, this year’s awards will celebrate female farmers and the organizations helping women in agriculture overcome long-standing challenges and gain access to new opportunities.

The future of farming depends on the knowledge, leadership, and determination of women!

Recognizing their contribution benefits our entire industry. 🌱💚

We’re excited to welcome our new Ambassador Member, Ekaterina Vepkhvadze, founder of AgriTouch, to the Global Women Fresh community! 💙

Over the past decade, Ekaterina has played an important role in developing Georgia’s modern blueberry industry, connecting local growers with global markets and creating new opportunities across the agricultural sector.

Her journey is founded on resilience, responsibility, and a deep commitment to the people around her. For Ekaterina, the greatest measure of success comes from the trust she builds with partners and her team.

As she says, “When people believe in you, they give you something incredibly precious, and I never want to let that trust down.”

This belief guides the way she approaches leadership — encouraging innovation and helping people recognize new opportunities.

Ekaterina also understands the role confidence plays in progress. “Fear prevents people from dreaming, from innovating, from taking opportunities, and sometimes from believing in themselves.”

Through her work in fresh produce, she continues to show how determination, collaboration, and belief in people can leave a positive mark on the entire industry.

We’re so proud to welcome Ekaterina to Global Women Fresh and look forward to celebrating her experience and contribution to our growing global community. 🙌🌱

We’d love to welcome more people to join us as ambassadors. If you’re interested, we’d be excited to have you with us!

Why the Conversations We Dread Are the Ones That Define Us - with Carmell Clark

Some of the most important moments in our career happen inside conversations we would rather avoid.

The conversation about recognition we’ve earned. The conversation about professional boundaries. The conversation about being respected. The conversation about negotiating for what we genuinely deserve.

My friends, silence is not a strategy.

Conflict moments often impact careers, relationships, and leadership more than any technical skill ever could.

In this upcoming webinar, we’ll explore conflict resolution through the realities nearly all professional women face: navigating power dynamics, competing expectations and priorities, and the challenge of how to be true to oneself while directly addressing difficult issues.

Almost no one likes conflict. But becoming skillful and savvy in confronting and navigating conflict is a superpower you can develop.

It will transform your career, align you with your unique areas of talent and genius, and open the doors wide to opportunity.

Sustainable development starts with listening

For Theresa Ruperti, that means creating space for people with different experiences and perspectives to come up with solutions together.

Her work is guided by the conviction that sustainable development is fundamentally a question of justice, and that lasting change is only possible when local knowledge is valued alongside technical expertise.

As an engineer specializing in Water and Soil Management, Theresa has worked at the intersection of sustainable agriculture, international development, and sustainability governance for nearly two decades.

Since returning to Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung in October 2024, she has been supporting holistic programs with coffee-farming families in Honduras and Guatemala, while also contributing to the pre-competitive initiative International Coffee Partners.

A defining moment in her career came while working with farmers in Egypt:
“It showed me that technical solutions can have very different social impacts, and that the practical knowledge of farmers — especially women — often goes far beyond academic expertise.”

When asked what she is most proud of, Theresa doesn‘t point to a particular project. Instead, she thinks of the people she has met through her work — like a young woman in Guatemala who, after participating in one of her programs, built and successfully managed her own village shop.

We’re so excited to share Theresa‘s story and the values that influence her work.
Her passion for bringing people together and learning from different perspectives is something we deeply appreciate.

As she puts it: “I value teamwork and the diversity of experiences each person brings to the table. My approach is to support people in their individual strengths and create an environment where everyone can contribute their abilities.”

She truly represents what empowerment can look like in practice! 🌏 ☀️
