☕ A soup, a quiet cup of tea, and a conversation worth having.

🎙️ This year’s Tea & Talk at Kayla Feder Shihan Berlin 2026 Aikido Seminar will include a conversation with Kayla Sensei about the book she is currently writing, “Aikido Is a Matter of the Heart.” There will be room for questions and a shared exchange.
▫️
📖 Joining us this year, live from New York: Jon Di Luca, editor of Kayla Sensei’s book and host of the podcast “Ki to the City”.
▫️
🔍 What are the practices that keep Kayla Sensei centered, beyond Aikido? And what’s the one message she hopes readers will take away from her book?
▫️
🍵 Japanese miso soup, coffee, tea and snacks will be served free of charge. Few martial arts weekends happen around a bowl of soup — we believe more of them should. 😊
▫️
🎥 Have you spotted some familiar faces from last year’s Tea & Talk with Kayla yet? Keep an eye out around second 30 of our latest video.

On Sunday, January 11th, 2026, the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo (Aikikai) has held the annual “kagamibiraki-grading-ceremony“, through which practitioners from all over the world are honored and promoted for their efforts and achievements in the worldwide dissemination of our beloved art.
On this occasion the list of promotees also included three members of our federation‘s board and high dignitaries of our association.
Ulrike Serak from Berlin, Ulf Rott from Leer and Lothar Darjes from Hamburg were awarded the rank of 7th dan Aikikai, belonging now to a very small and exclusive group of persons that hold such a high grade in Germany.

On behalf of the members and instructors of our dojo we wish to express our most sincere congratulations on the occasion of their promotion, stating that it is an honor and a privilege to count these pioneers of Aikido in Germany and cofounders of our federation among the role models of our community.
Thank you for your continued efforts and for being such a huge inspiration.
