This year’s Academy t-shirt wasn’t designed for the girls. It was designed with them. 💜

When participants from the ABURY GGU Academy and inspiring women come together in creative spaces, ideas start moving fast 🚀

At ifa Galerie Berlin, ABURY GGU girls joined Waridi Wardah, a former top model, mentor, and advocate for African creativity and design, and Berlin-based fashion designer Buki Akomolafe for a creative workshop. We started by exploring what our 2026 Leadership Academy theme, “The Time is Now,” means to us, before turning those thoughts into creative ideas for our official t-shirts.

We went from brainstorming to sketching to building on each other’s ideas, and the energy stayed creative the whole way through. At the end, we created designs rooted in leadership, courage, and action!

It was so special being in a space full of creativity, dialogue, and exchange, where ideas turned into something real ❤️

6 WEEKS TO GO!

The ABURY Girls Gearing Up Academies in Malawi 🇲🇼 and Germany will start in just a few weeks💜
More than 100 girls will come together to learn, grow, build confidence, find their voices, and create friendships across cultures and borders.
And yes… there will definitely be dancing too ✨
Because some of the most powerful moments at GGU happen in between the workshops:

💜 stepping out of comfort zones
💜 celebrating each other
💜 feeling free to fully be yourself

Our Mentoring Program connects young women with accomplished female mentors from around the world for a year of personalized guidance to help them set and achieve goals, build confidence, and develop essential leadership skills for the future.

Meet Marina, the Chair of GGU’s Youth Advisory Board! 👋

Marina (18, from the US and the UK) joined our ABURY GGU International Leadership Academy last summer. Returning home with a renewed sense of confidence and a drive to step out of her comfort zone, she applied to the GGU Youth Advisory Board… and is now leading it as Chair!

The GGU Youth Advisory Board is made up of passionate GGU alumnae and members of our global community. Since 2021, the YAB has played a key role in launching independent initiatives, strengthening connections, and keeping our international alumni network thriving.

We love watching our alumnae step into leadership positions, contribute to the global GGU community, and grow into leaders who continue to give back and inspire others 🌍✨

Happy Earth Day from GGU!

April 22nd is Earth Day - a moment to reflect on the importance of our shared home and the role we all play in protecting it. 🌍

At GGU, we’re proud to be equipping future female leaders to be part of the solution. Take a look at some throwback photos to see our incredible girls in action at our 2023 Leadership Academies:
