Building bridges between Ukraine and the European Union. First stop: Prague. 🇺🇦🤝🇨🇿 with STEP IN 2 EU and GIZ Ukraine: Sustainable Economic Development

This week, 15 representatives of women-focused Business Support Organizations from across Ukraine arrived in Prague to connect with Czech organizations that support entrepreneurs to start, grow, innovate, and reach international markets.

Over two packed days, our delegation exchanged ideas, explored new approaches to business support, and discovered how to build stronger communities, strengthen support services and structure international partnerships to support women entrepreneurs across Europe.

A heartfelt thank you to all partners for welcoming our delegation and sharing your experience and expertise.

The conversations started in Prague are only the beginning. Next stop: Vienna. 🇦🇹

Scale It Forward ticks the first box: bringing expert Financial Institutions together to advance and adapt Venture Debt to the needs of Egypt’s growing businesses.

In this video, Dina Hassanein from GIZ Egypt, together with Rawan Bassam from enpact, share the mission behind the programme: why bringing AMAN Holding, Bokra, and Erada Finance to the same table matters, and how this collaboration can help create financing opportunities that respond to the needs of high-growth scaleups.

“We walked through the DIRWENA experience, gaining practical tools to set clearer priorities, integrate climate action, and further support the farmers and microenterprises in our network.” – Najbir Husain Ali, Director of Hariwan Organization.

Over the past three months, representatives from DIRWENA’s BSOs have come together for a series of training sessions. They shared experiences, exchanged ideas, and gained practical knowledge they can take back to the farmers and entrepreneurs they support.

Across the different sessions, they explored how to:

🌱 Navigate the funding landscape
🌱 Strengthen fundraising approaches
🌱 Build meaningful partnerships

Featured in the photos is a glimpse into the sessions Nottingham Academy delivered to the DIRWENA BSOs in Sulaymaniyah and Duhok as part of the program.

And the journey continues, from learning together to paying it forward together!

The next few days will bring the 14 BSOs alongside the 56 smallholder farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs for the project’s Sustainability Bootcamp: a space where everyone will share their learnings and progress while shaping what comes next for the agricultural ecosystem of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

From the ecosystem, for the ecosystem. 🇺🇦

This week, 15 Women-focused business support organizations and 30 women-led SMEs from all across Ukraine came together online for the second time.

In July, the goal was to get to know each other’s work. 3 months later, the goal is to put the new support services developed by the BSOs into a practical test. 👩‍💻

Throughout the session, WBSOs presented the improved services they have been developing over the past months, while SMEs shared their perspectives, experiences, and recommendations to help ensure these services respond to the real needs of women entrepreneurs preparing for the EU market.

A key focus for the project is to ensure that support is gender-responsive, and can align with the context and the realities of women building and managing a business in Ukraine during these times.

Next stop: Taking things offline. Stay tuned on our channels to meet the people of the Women Entrepreneurs Readiness project and follow their journey across Ukraine and the EU. 🌍

Sustainable growth for entrepreneurs starts with having a support ecosystem around them. 🌱

Over the past three days in Algiers, 23 Startup Support Organizations came together for the second bootcamp of the Ecosystem Builders Algeria (SSOs Track).

The theme of the bootcamp was exchange: learning from each other and turning shared knowledge into concrete collaborations to:

🤝 Build new partnerships across the ecosystem
💬 Strengthen teams and organizational culture within each organization
📈 Develop leadership, HR, and impact measurement practices

Through practical exercises, peer learning, and plenty of exchange, participants explored how they can grow their own organizations, and ultimately provide better support for aspiring entrepreneurs across Algeria. 🇩🇿

And the project's community keeps growing: selection for the Ideas and Startups Tracks is underway, with the next phase starting soon.
