Elsewhere this month, AFEM and the Berlin AI Think Tank were represented on the Paradise Worldwide float at Rave The Planet in Berlin, where a new AI demand was added to the parade's political agenda: the protection of human creativity and fair revenue sharing for any AI-based use of artistic and cultural works.

Dance / Electronic is continuing to prove its cultural and commercial weight.

Luminate's H1 2026 Midyear Report shows the genre leading U.S. growth, with on-demand audio volume up 18.9% year over year. That momentum is being driven by both current hits and catalog resurgence, with half of the genre's Top 10 coming from 2015–17 releases.

It's another reminder of the genre's reach, resilience and cultural weight.

A look back at a busy month with the AFEM community.

From our AFEM x Amnesia Ibiza Ibiza Invite-Only Rooftop Terrace Mixer ahead of Jean-Michel Jarre’s first-ever Ibiza concert, to yoyaku x Sacem x gocliporg x AFEM: Understanding the Life of an Electronic Music Release in Paris, it was a pleasure to bring people together across two very special moments this July.

Thank you to Amnesia Ibiza for hosting the rooftop mixer, and to Stéphane Schweitzer at Clubbing TV / Amnesia for helping make it happen for the AFEM community. Thank you as well to Yoyaku, SACEM and CLIP for collaborating with us in Paris on an important conversation around the life of an electronic music release.

Join AFEM for a LinkedIn Live conversation about the ADE Cycle: the charity ride from London to Amsterdam Dance Event in support of Bridges for Music.

This year’s ride introduces a new two-day route: 230km over two stages, including an overnight ferry crossing, before arriving into ADE for a special welcome reception.

We’ll be joined by Valentino Barrioseta (Bridges for Music), Jess Miller (AlphaTheta) and Amy Van-Baaren (Resident Advisor), all of whom have ridden the ADE Cycle before, to talk about the 2026 route, the impact of the ride and what participants can expect.

Funds raised support the Bridges Academy in Langa, Cape Town, helping young creatives access recording studios, DJ rooms and a programme built around music, entrepreneurship and mindfulness.

What is representation actually worth, if the people making the decisions stay the same?

That question runs underneath AFEM's South Asian Heritage Month session from last August, in which moderator Suzanna Storey sat down with Trina Smith (AFEM Executive Board), Sofia Ilyasand Farah Nanji.

Across the hour the four of them trace the routes that brought them into electronic music, and what their heritage has meant professionally once they were in it, in a business that still doesn't look much like the people who build it.

Trina Smith puts it plainly. "Real empowerment is about ownership, authorship, being paid fairly. It's not just about visibility. It's infrastructure."
