House of Taswir, a.k.a. Taswir projects is an international platform for artistic research and diasporic thinking founded by Shulamit Bruckstein.

Taswir promotes free association of artifacts and positions across disciplines and across geographies. TASWIR projects is a platform for artistic research and diasporic thinking. It works with a loosely associated faculty, creates its own topography, and develops the TASWIR atlas, an atlas of varying indefinite relations between artifacts and things, positioned through poetic documentation and artistic research.

The Metaxy exhibition and events focuses on times when it is unclear how societies will cope with destruction, loss, guilt and memory. Who is allowed to return? Who owns the land? Which histories are told?

SLIMAN MANSOUR (27.7.1947 - 24.8.2026)

Farewell to this monumental Palestinian artist - may his soul fly high, and may he rest in peace and power.

This Monday, the world lost a giant. Sliman Mansour, the iconic Palestinian painter, was born in 1947, a year before the Nakba, and died on Monday in Jerusalem.

He spent his life painting a people who refuse to disappear, his huge body of work gives us Palestine as a living homeland: wounded, beautiful, dignified, still alive, refusing erasue. At a time when Palestine was torn apart, he carried Palestine in his hands, and spent a lifetime putting its fragments back into the world through color and form. (From the fb page of Azam Ali 🙏)

May his words prove to be prophecy:

"I was born a year before the occupation ... and i always believe that I will die one year before we get our freedom."

“Revolution is not only shooting. It is art."

Rest in peace, Sliman Mansour.. May the Palestine you carried so faithfully in your art, one day breathe the air of freedom. May your family and loved ones find comfort in the love and light you gave.

Works by Alfredo Jaar, Fares Ayash, Yasmeen Al Daya, Larissa Araz shown at the 7th Mardin Biennale in May, 2026, plus two works by Gaza Biennale participants Khaled Huseyin and Jehad Jarbou.

With a text "Everyone is Someone" by the German-Iranian writer Navid Kermani rendered in eight languages by distinguished poets, artists, and writers Ghayath Almadhoun, Sinan Eren Erk, Parastou Forouhar, Tas Skorupa, Talin Süzme, Dilawer Zeraq and Yuhanin Vergili.

HALA ALNAJI at DARAT AL FUNUN 💚
Cartographies of Mourning

How can we document erasure as it unfolds? And how might mourning become a form of resistance amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza?

The researcher, architect and visual artist Hala Alnaji, Darat al Funun Fellow 2026, explores methodologies for developing counter-cartographies in response to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and brings together textile craft with critical approaches to spatial mapping and mapmaking.

At the centre of the project is stitching, understood both as an analytical method and a collective practice. Stitching becomes an architectural framework through which mourning can take form as an act of spatial resistance against disappearance and erasure. In this talk, Hala reflects on the development of her research and doctoral project, which brings together design, critical writing, and participatory practices of mapping and knowledge production.

The talk will be held in Arabic.

مساء في البيت البيروتي كيف يُمكننا توثيق المحو أثناء وقوعه؟ وكيف يُمكن للحِداد أن يكون شكلًا من أشكال المقاومة ضمن واقع الإبادة في غزة؟ تستكشف أطروحة المعمارية والفنانة البصرية هالا الناجي، زميلة دارة الفنون لعام 2026، منهجيات لتطوير خرائط مضادة تستجيب لواقع الإبادة المستمرة في غزة، وذلك عبر الدمج بين حرفة النسيج والممارسات النقدية في رسم وتطوير الخرائط المكانية. حيث تُركز الأطروحة على فعل الخياطة بوصفه أداة تحليل وعمل جماعي في آن واحد، وباعتباره إطارًا معماريًا يُصبح الحِداد من خلاله شكلًا من أشكال المقاومة المكانية في مواجهة التلاشي والمحو. تتحدث هالا في هذا اللقاء عن مسيرة تطوير عملها البحثي وأطروحتها التي تجمع بين التصميم، والكتابة النقدية، وممارسات صناعة الخرائط التشاركية.
