Happy Holidays and feliz natal from our hearts to yours! 🎄✨❤️

What started as “just a quick photo” turned into laughter, joy, and a reminder of what really matters — togetherness, lightness, and caring for one another.

Thank you for standing with us and supporting our children in Fortaleza. Your kindness brings smiles, music, hope, and real chances for a brighter future.

Wishing you joyful holidays and a hopeful start into the new year! 💛💚💙

When a cooking pot becomes a drum kit, it‘s time for some Christmas magic! 🎵✨

In the favela of Fortaleza, children grow up in extreme poverty. And like all children, they love music — but most have never held a real instrument. 🩷

So they drum on cooking pots, old tin bowls, plastic buckets. They smile, they try, and they say:

“I love music, but I don’t have any instruments.” 🎶

Music is their escape: from violence, hunger, insecurity. It gives them confidence, joy and a piece of childhood.

This Christmas, we want to exchange the pots, cans, and garbage. Together with , we are launching a music program for the children in Fortaleza.

🥁🎸 Our goal: 15 real instruments and regular lessons starting early 2026.

And we need your help:

25 € = a simple instrument
50 € = drumsticks, strings, other materials
120 € = one year of music lessons for a child

Every euro goes directly to instruments, teaching, and a better future for our children. ❤️✨

Harnessing the magic of music — because growing up in a Brazilian favela means facing daily challenges most of us can hardly imagine. 💔

That’s why Kinderhilfe Fortaleza, together with , is expanding its program — bringing music and mindfulness to disadvantaged children living in a favela in Fortaleza, Brazil’s 4th largest city. 🇧🇷🎶💫

Through rhythm and reflection, the children are growing stronger — finding confidence, connection, and hope. 🌱✨

Every beat, every smile, every small moment matters. 💛

We’re proud to celebrate this collaboration on — a day that reminds us how the power of sound, rhythm, and community can truly change lives. 🌍🎵

There are plenty of people who want to make a difference, but it’s those who actually roll up their sleeves and take action who truly change the world. 🌎🤝🌈

Dr. Julia Kaethner is one of those rare doers. Instead of just talking about change, she’s been living it for more than 30 years. ✨

Today, we are shouting out loud: Happy Birthday and Parabéns dear Julia — the founder of Kinderhilfe Fortaleza! 🥳

🇧🇷 Back in 1993, Julia traveled to Brazil for the first time and met children in the favelas whose hardships moved her deeply. That experience sparked her determination to support these children even after she returned to Germany. 💫

That was the birth of Kinderhilfe Fortaleza. 📝📚🚸👧🏽🧒🏾

To this day, thanks to Julia’s tireless dedication — all in her free time, while she’s also a pediatrician in Berlin, a wonderful mom, a loving wife, the world’s best sister, and dear friend to many — Kinderhilfe Fortaleza continues to support children in Brazil, giving them the chance to go to school, access healthcare, and build a better future. 🫶

Happy birthday, Julia, and thank you for everything you do! 🎂 🎈🙏

This world — and especially its children — need beautiful souls like you, who give unconditionally, care deeply for others, and are committed to making an impact on the next generation with love and compassion. 💖

A birthday wish — not for herself, but for the children in Fortaleza. 🎂❤️😇🎂

Georgia, one of the many amazing people supporting our work, lives in Germany and has Brazilian roots.

💝 For her milestone birthday party in Fortaleza, she did something wonderful and heartwarming: she asked her family and friends for food donations instead of gifts.

🫶 Her guests showed up with all kinds of packaged food — and Georgia delivered everything in person to Ana and Ritinha during her trip.

Sugar, rice, milk, cookies, flour, beans, couscous, pasta — exactly what many families in the favela often lack. 🍛🍚🍪

How did she find us? At a party in Frankfurt, Georgia happened to meet a doctor from Berlin. Talking about children, health, and Brazil, she heard about our work in Fortaleza. 🤝

She subscribed to our newsletter, began making small regular donations — and when her Brazil trip was confirmed, she wanted to turn that support into something tangible.

During her visit to the house of Kinderhilfe Fortaleza, she met Ana and Ritinha, saw the facilities, heard the stories of the children and families, and felt both the weight and even more the purpose of our work. 📚✍️

What moved her most: former students now return, established in their professions, to help the younger ones — a cycle of hope. 👧🏽👦🏼

As Georgia said: “Educação é esperança.” Education is hope. 💫

For our families, these packages mean more than a few full plates. They mean a breath of relief, a few days with fewer worries — and the feeling of being seen, supported, and part of a community where people care for each other.

🙏 Thank you, Georgia — and thank you to everyone who made this donation possible. You show that solidarity knows no borders.

💌 If you are in Fortaleza and would like to donate items, we’d love to hear from you. We can also arrange pickup. We especially need basic food, hygiene items, and school supplies. Send us a DM or visit our website (link in bio).

🥳 Behind every nonprofit organization, there are a few very special souls. Today we want to honor one of them:

Parabéns and happy birthday, dear Ritinha! 🎉💐

When our founder, Julia Kaethner, spent a volunteer social year in Brazil in 1993, she met Ritinha in the favela of Fortaleza.

This encounter led to a friendship and, ultimately, to the founding of

Ritinha herself comes from a large, poor family and, as a child, could only attend school until 8th grade.

Later, she completed her education — a testament to her determination and belief in the power of education. 📚📝

Since 1995, she has been coordinating our work on-site. She knows every family, personally purchases all the materials together with Ana, and ensures that donations reach exactly where they are needed.

Without her tireless efforts, hundreds of disadvantaged children would never have found their way to school. 💗💞

Ritinha is the co-founder and the heart and soul of Kinderhilfe Fortaleza — and today we celebrate and thank her for everything she does. ❤️

Today, we celebrate World Children’s Day in Germany, Austria and Switzerland! 🎉🎈

🌍 In Germany 🇩🇪, one in seven children grows up in poverty.

As alarming as this is, recent studies by and show the challenges in Brazil 🇧🇷 are even more severe:

👉 Almost half of all children under 14 live in poverty — with 10% growing up in extreme poverty.
👉 Many children lack reliable access to daily meals, healthcare, or school materials.
👉 Without support, their chances of escaping poverty are extremely slim.

This is where we step in:

📚 We give children access to education and support with their homework.
🍲 We provide daily school meals.
❤️ We offer children a safe space where they can simply be children.

➡️ Child poverty is not a distant problem — it affects millions, in Germany, in Brazil, and across the world.

🙏 Today, as Germany, Austria, and Switzerland mark World Children’s Day, let’s remember: Every child has the right to safety, education, and healthcare — and to a future without poverty.

✨ Every donation makes a difference and can transform a child’s life. Donate now and let’s keep celebrating children around the world!✨

Hunger is devastating — especially for children who need to grow, learn, and focus. 🍽️🌍✨

For many of our children in Fortaleza, the school lunch is the highlight of the day — and often the only proper meal they get. 🍛✨

When we asked the children after the long summer break in August what they were most looking forward to, Marina’s eyes lit up as she said: “The school lunch!” 💛

In a cheerful round, the children eat together in the schoolyard.

🍕 Unfortunately, the school meals are not always healthy or balanced — often it’s pizza, sandwiches, and soda. But that’s exactly what makes it so special for the children.

🍚 At home, it’s usually rice and beans — cheap, filling, but always the same. At school, they get to enjoy a rare luxury: food that tastes like fun! 🎉

The children who are part of the Kinderhilfe Fortaleza program don’t pay with money, but with vouchers they receive from our team every week. This ensures that no money gets lost and every cent goes directly into their meals — a simple and practical solution in close coordination with the school.

🍅🌱 We are working hard with the school to make healthier meals a reality — because we know that also healthy nutrition can taste great, help grow, and bring joy! 🥗

👉 Do you want to offer a child their school lunch? Each month the daily meals cost 25 euros per child — every donation changes a child’s life!

🇧🇷✨ A Special Day in Brazil ✨🇧🇷

Today, on September 7, we celebrate Brazil’s Independence Day — and our children joined in with great joy and pride, honoring their country and its heroes. 🎉

The parade began at school, wound its way through the small streets of the favela, and then returned to the schoolyard.

The children marched in colorful costumes representing indigenous peoples, Brazil’s national heroes, everyday professions, superheroes, and even the armed forces.

Together they sang the national anthem and the independence hymn — a joyful moment filled with pride, fun, and community. 💚💛

Experiences like these not only teach our children new things, they also build confidence and give them the feeling of being part of something bigger. And that’s exactly what we want to give them: roots, strength, and a brighter future. 🌱

👉 Help us make moments like this possible with your donation — every Euro, Swiss Franc, or Dollar makes a difference in our children‘s lives.

Today is Father’s Day in Brazil! 🇧🇷

On the second Sunday of August, Brazilians celebrate Dia dos Pais — a day that coincides with the feast of Saint Joachim, the patron saint of fathers.

And so today, we honor heroes who may not always look like heroes at first glance:

💙 Fathers who navigate life in wheelchairs, leading their families with unshakable courage
💙 Fathers who, despite limited literacy, fight to give their children education
💙 Fathers who survive on odd jobs and irregular income, yet never surrender hope

Sometimes, mothers, aunts, uncles or grandparents have to step into the father’s role.

What they all have in common: they give their children stability, love, and the strength to believe in a better future.

Davi always speaks with pride about his father Daniel, who has been in a wheelchair since a major surgery. At every school event, Davi makes sure his father can be there — he should never feel left behind.

Daniel shows all the children in the favela every day how to go through life with courage, strength, and humor.

His words are moving: “Being a father is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Davi is a wonderful gift from God.”

These extraordinary fathers, families, and our children in Fortaleza inspire us every single day.

Help us support these incredible families. Every donation creates opportunities for education and hope.

Feliz Dia dos Pais — and thank you to all fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who give children around the world love, stability, and hope every day, and who help them go to school and build a better future. 💛

Hooray – school is back! 📚📝

While many children in Germany are still enjoying their summer break at the pool, the beach, or in the mountains, school has already started again this week in Fortaleza.

So, how was the first day back after the Brazilian “winter break”?

Most of our children returned to school full of excitement — with bright eyes and big smiles on their faces. Finally back with their friends, learning, playing, laughing — and yes, finally back in the school cafeteria! 🍽️😋

Our team, led by Ana and Ritinha, was right there with them — with open arms, open hearts, and open ears.

👧🏻 Marina grinned and said after her first day:
“I actually wanted to have two school days in a row! I missed my best friend sooo much. And the food in the cafeteria, too!”

👦🏻 Guilherme said:
“I missed everyone a lot! At home I always take care of my little brother. But here at school I get to learn again and be with my friends!”

👧🏼 Maria Luiza shared:
“We started right away with math… but that’s okay. I enjoyed the holidays, but now I’m really happy to be back at school!”

The laughter, the joy, and the excitement on this first day show once again how much school means to our children. It’s not just a place to learn — it’s a safe space full of joy, connection, and the foundation for a better future.

💚 Thank you for making this possible.

Because of your support, our children can go to school, have a daily meal, learn, dream, and simply be kids — far from the violence of the favelas, their parents’ daily struggles, and the uncertainty of the future.

Now we’re entering the second half of the school year — with many more stories, learning moments, and shining eyes to come. We’ll keep you posted! 🌟
