The European Community Foundation Initiative is a collaborative initiative committed to facilitating

Our mission is to build a platform for communication, knowledge sharing, development and advocacy to strengthen and support community foundation support organizations and community foundations in Europe. We draw on our extensive experience with CFs and consultations with existing European CF support organizations, to establish a cross-border network that is beneficial to the CF community at local, regional, and national levels. ECFI is engaged in the mapping and analysis of CF activities and in disseminating information that will facilitate development of the field. We strive to be a central point of contact for wider engagement within the global CF movement. Our vision is a world in which strong civic organizations work collaboratively to improve the local and broader communities they inhabit. The ECFI project is managed under the aegis of the Federal Association of German Foundations. Project partners are the UK Community Foundations and the Centre for Philanthropy in Slovakia. Furthermore, ECFI will work closely with the European Foundation Centre, the Global Fund for Community Foundations, DAFNE and WINGS. Financing for the initiative comes from a growing number of foundations, including the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Robert Bosch Foundation, the Körber Foundation and the Lipoid Foundation.

We will explore lessons from our recent publication and opens a wider conversation about trust, relationships, local action and relational infrastructure during times of uncertainty.

Together with practitioners, researchers and locally rooted organisations from across Europe, we will reflect on what enables communities to respond, adapt and stay connected under pressure.

Featured stories include Fundusz Lokalny Masywu Śnieżnika(Poland), Fundația Comunitară Galați (Romania) and Fundació Horta Sud (Spain).

What the *fund* are we talking about??

A couple of days ago we kicked off the Fund Development Learning Journey, our year-long peer to peer opportunity designed to explore why and how to build a robust, flexible, and future-oriented fund development strategy for your organisation, drawing on the collective experience of hashtag across Europe.

As we are gathering snippets and insights of our first meeting with Orla Black from Community Foundation Northern Ireland, we realised something: we may not all be aligned on some of the different types of funds out there.
