We at Life Bridge Ukraine are deeply honored to be recognized as one of the educational organizations supported by Erasmus Plus/GoEurope Mobility. This certificate celebrates our dedication to building cross-border bridges in vocational education, emphasizing the critical need for training prosthetic technicians to support soldiers with amputation injuries—a vital step in rebuilding Ukraine.
Supported by Erasmus Plus/GoEurope, we travelled to Kyiv in March 2024, inspired by the exceptional prosthetics craftsmanship in Berlin and driven by the urgent need for good protheses in Ukraine. Under support of Berlin Senate, we launched an initiative to connect Berlin and Kyiv, focusing on amputee care and prostheses training, with the goal of establishing the first municipal prosthetics center in Kyiv - as a part of the Berlin-Kyiv city partnership. 🇩🇪🤝🇺🇦
A special thanks to Berlin’s Mayor Kai Wegner for his kind words and support. This encouragement strengthens our resolve to push boundaries and continue this impactful work.
Sharing this proud moment at Berlin City Hall with one of our patients, Yevheni, was particularly moving. Witnessing his recovery journey here in Berlin and hearing him speak about the transformative impact of this initiative, including the professional growth of our trainees, was profoundly inspiring. A special thank you goes to Olha, our volunteer and translator, for helping convey Yevheni’s words to the audience.
We’re also immensely grateful to orthopedic technicians Georg Dinter and Daniel Koch, who joined the ErasmusPlus mobility to Kyiv in March 2024 next to Gernot Kretschmer, and also joined yesterday in Berlin City Hall. Their expertise and commitment have been integral to this project from the very beginning.
