www.learning-from-history.de offers a platform for historical and civic education which focuses on twentieth-century history, and especially the National Socialist era, the Holocaust and the history after the Second World War. The educational portal “Learning from History” has four main areas:
Learning & Teaching (in German)

Learning & Teaching offers teachers and other educators a free-of-charge

resource pool of educational materials and methodological ideas. Browsing the portal is made easier by two search functions: the didactic filter searches according to methods and didactic approaches, while the thematic filter helps you find materials and ideas on specific topics, events and individuals. You also have the option of presenting your own projects and writing reviews. In this area you also have access to our magazine (in German), which brings together information and ideas from the sphere of historical and civic education. You can subscribe to the magazine as an electronic newsletter. The magazine appears monthly and focuses on a different topic each issue, with opinions, reports on practice, and reviews of teaching materials. Participating & Networking

In this area you can contribute questions and ideas from your own educational work, and chat with experts. You can network across Germany and worldwide and contact other members, announce events, pass on tips and ideas, and find out about competitions and funding opportunities. Register free of charge to participate actively in the portal. Your profile and contact details will not be visible for other registered members unless you specifically give your permission. Learning Online

Learning Online brings you web seminars on themes in the field of historical and civic education, presented by experts from both academic and practical teaching contexts. As a registered user, you can take part in web seminars in real time and ask your own questions. All the web seminars are recorded and archived, so you can also view a seminar at a later date. The portal’s staff offer their own courses through our Moodle platform. We also use sample courses to show how you can make best use of the Moodle virtual learning environment in your own teaching. International Dialogue

This area is mainly in English. It brings together contributions from international specialists, project presentations, and chat sessions with experts, aiming to open up a wide diversity of viewpoints. In the International Dialogue area you are invited to look beyond your own horizons, exchanging ideas and information about approaches to historical and civic education on an international level.
