Assembled in Cairo by free thinkers and explorers, The Dwarfs of East Agouza are a trio composed of , , and Alan Bishop, three musicians with long and defiant résumés that cross over a myriad of languages, cartographies, and expressions. Born collectively in 2012 in the Agouza District, their music merges the repetitive hypnosis of krautrock, the emancipatory spirit of free jazz, pulsating beats, and the energy of Egyptian shaabi music into a perpetual motion that recognizes no boundaries, real or imagined. 🪬

Opening the night is gega.fisk (.words and .wav), two artists who share their personal experiences as manifestations of their own
reality, translated through music and socio-critical poetry. Their bass-driven sounds encapsulate emotional journeys through odd soundscapes and irregular beats.🔮

At the bar floor, the AL.Crew will keep the energy alive all night long.

This event will be held at a private members' space near Jannowitzbrücke, Berlin. If you are not already a member of the space, you will need to pay an annual membership fee of 5€.

We are taking over 🪩✨️🪬

RIP AL.Berlin Remise, our small café-bar that, between 2020 and 2023 was a meeting point for music, conversation, and political imagination. We are opening both floors to the extended AL.Berlin family, old friends, familiar faces, and new connection ❤️.

Upstairs, opens the night with selections rooted in the Colombian Caribbean and shaped by migration and memory. After that, , , and Ziad take over the bar with a fluid, tastefully unpredictable blend of SWANA and beyond. 🧿🥂

Downstairs in the club, sets the tone with a restless, wide-ranging approach, followed by latin club legend and boss .dj Then Coco Batata (aka ) will play what he calls ‘weird sh*t’, a daring and eclectic mixture of krautrock, free jazz, French songs, world pop, Arab trash and what not. His slogan – stolen from his all time favorite Finnish band: ‘I play, you dance’. 💃🏾✨️

He will be joined by the amazingly talented Tunisian multi-genre DJ and Producer .musiqa . Then we will get the return of once local legend and “Hardest Working DJ in Berlin” .jimmy , digging into his (un)usual wax selections, before .wav closes the night with a high-energy, genre-spanning set. Not a nostalgic rewind, but a continuation with the same spirit, reassembled for now.

This month on , we’re excited to welcome , a Greek music lover, DJ, and selector. He will be sharing his knowledge on Rembetiko music; its history, politics, influences, and the power of amplifying migrant voices. We will be discussing the importance of cross-cultural exchange in the historical, political, and musical context of Greece, as well as hearing some songs of the region and beyond.

The photo of our episode captures the sunrise over the Aegean Sea, a place of both striking beauty and deep tragedy as a long-standing route for refugees, that have over generations carried stories and melodies across its waters.

This month’s show features our dear comrade — artist, activist, researcher, and more — Ahmed Isamaldin .i.aldin .
We’ll be talking about why Sudan is not considered “lucrative” within the media and research economy, how the war functions as a counter-revolution, and how the extermination of Indigenous communities connects to emerging capitalist projects in the region. Between our conversations, we’ll take breaks to listen to Ahmed’s personal playlist of Sudanese music.
Ahmed Isamaldin is a media artist, designer, researcher, and activist from Khartoum, based in Berlin. Trained in physics and visual communication, he works at the intersection of artistic research, spatial analysis, and social practice. He is a co-founder of Sudan Uprising Germany, a Sudanese diaspora leftist collective, and a member of the CESS initiative, where he contributes to work on extractivism and ecological colonialism. His practice examines community resistance to borders and oppression, including repair practices as forms of resistance.
