This week’s sketch by Angles artist
・・・
This is a sketch of a door at the bottom of my street. It has always puzzled me because it looks like it should be a shop but it’s not. I think some ravers lived there; I once encountered a dude who gave me a wave, wearing nothing but skin tight red Lycra leggings and a massive smile (him not me 🤓) gurning his face off while trying to get in, presumably back to his M**A 💊 Well anyway, I always kinda wanted to draw it so the other day I did and just in time because the next day building work started, massive windows installed, and it’s getting gentrified. My money is on a hipster vegan Vietnamese place because we only have six of them in the neighborhood 👌🏻😁

Our first Sunday handicraft workshop at Über den Tellerrand was incredible. We hosted more than 15 women from Germany, Afghanistan, the US, and other countries who came together on this rainy Sunday to learn how to crochet and knit. Led by Angles artist , the workshop lasted over two hours as participants chatted, enjoyed drinks and snacks, and got to know one another. We’ll be having this workshop regularly so follow us on IG or FB Angles: Berlin to stay up to date! @ Über den Tellerrand

Since January, Angles artist Linnea Lieth has been working to illustrate the deep friendships that Berliner Parvin Shafaq of Afghanistan has made on the city’s public transportation in the few years she has lived here.

Here, Linnea sketches Parvin and her friend Annabel, who is from Germany. They met on the tram in Friedrichshain and bonded over their sons being in the same Kita and the loss of loved ones. Stay tuned for the full project!

Our first public storytelling event "Three Stories in Berlin" this past Saturday at ZK/U - Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik was AMAZING! We hosted more than 60 participants, each of whom visited storytellers in three different "neighbourhoods" of Berlin, mapped out in ZKU's cavernous basement space.

The three storytellers shared narratives of turning points and transformations in Berlin, including from a Hebrew language sign language interpreter, a fiction writer from Syria, and an American-born longtime Berlin resident who has seen the city change. Their varied and distinct narratives of transformation were further built upon as participants had the opportunity to share their own turning points and place-based experiences in Berlin. Thank you to all who trekked out in the snow to join us!
