ICTP and the International Mathematical Union (IMU) have awarded the 2025 Ramanujan Prize for young from countries to Claudio Muñoz of the University of Chile for his fundamental contributions to dispersive partial differential equations.

The award recognizes his remarkable work on the long-time behaviour of solutions to fundamental equations of mathematical physics, in particular on the asymptotic stability of soliton solutions and the dynamics of multi-solitons.

ICTP warmly congratulates Claudio Muñoz on this achievement!

📣 We are excited to share that the theme for the 2026 International Day of Mathematics (IDM) has been announced as "Mathematics and Hope"!

The theme invites us to reflect on how mathematics supports problem-solving, clarity, and cooperation, in particular how mathematics as a tool offers hope for a better future. 🤝

We look forward to seeing how the global community brings this theme to life in creative and meaningful ways on March 14, 2026.

Stay tuned by subscribing to the IDM Newsletter:

A worldwide celebration of Mathematics on March 14 of every year.
