On the summer solstice, the talented photographer Salima Hamrini kicked off the first Narratives of Hope photography storytelling series at GU Britz. 🌱

Participants began by locating their first homes on a map and illustrating the memories, places, and feelings connected to them. Together, these individual maps became a shared landscape — a collective world where every story had a place. From there, the group imagined the future, co-creating a map shaped by their hopes, dreams, and interconnected experiences.

This first session laid the foundation for the next chapter: translating these stories and memories through the lens of photography. 📷💫

🎭📚 Stories coming to life through Kamishibai!

This month, young participants discovered the art of Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese “paper theatre” that combines storytelling and illustration with the amazing Sarah Mel . ✨

During this first session, they worked together to imagine stories, explore ideas and emotions, identify key scenes, and begin bringing their narratives to life through drawings and creative expression. We can’t wait to see their stories unfold in the next workshop! 🌱

This month, two “Neighbors’ Dinners” took place at the Couto and Chaligny residences, bringing residents together for warm and joyful shared moments. 🌍🍲

Families prepared delicious dishes enjoyed by children and adults alike, creating space to meet, connect, and strengthen community ties. 💛

Through simple moments of togetherness, new friendships and a deeper sense of belonging continue to grow. 🌱

The Narratives of Hope project is funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Programme.

Celebrating stories that carry home, memory, and identity. ✨📚

This month, we’re highlighting a selection of beautiful children’s books that explore belonging, culture, and love through Palestinian voices and stories:

📖 Mariam’s Dream – Leila Boukarim
📖 Homeland: My Father’s Dream of Palestine – Hannah Moushabeck
📖 Lana Makes Purple Pizza – Amanda Najib
📖 We Are Palestinian – Reem Kassis
📖 Eleven Words for Love – Randa Abdel-Fattah
📖 My Olive Tree – Hazar Elbayya

Through these stories, young readers are invited to discover themes of heritage, family, resilience, and imagination — reminding us how books can nurture connection and understanding from an early age.

23/04/2026

Celebrating International Book Day with women who changed the world through words. ✨📚

Doris Lessing
Fatema Mernissi
Ursula K. Le Guin
Anna Hope
Audre Lorde

Through literature, these authors explore identity, feminism, memory, and resistance — reminding us that books can do more than tell stories; they can transform the way we understand ourselves and each other.
