Our workcamp season came to an end this October with the Beeskow camp.✨

Once again, this year has been filled with encounters, shared experiences and adventures. Let’s take a look back at our final workcamp, which focused on the environment!🫏🌾

From September 26 to October 9, five participants and two camp leaders from five different countries came together to help maintain and renovate the educational farm in Beeskow. Between teamwork, shared meals and visits to the town and its surroundings, the camp unfolded in a warm and friendly atmosphere!🫂🙌🏽

What better way to wrap up the workcamp season than with a wonderful experience on a farm? 🌱

A huge thank you to all our participants and partners for making the 2026 edition of VJF workcamps another great year! 💚

🏰✨ Back to the 6.2 Wysburg Discovering Archaeology Adventure !

The archaeological adventure of our 5 volunteers came to an end at the beginning of the month… so it’s time to look back at their experience through a few photos! 📸

They spent two weeks full of discoveries, cultural exchange, learning and hands-on work at the ruins of Wysburg Castle, overlooking the village of Weisbach. 🌿🏰

Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty to help rebuild part of this historic site! 🧱💪

By following the construction techniques visible in the foundations that are still standing today, our apprentice archaeologists and castle builders were able to recreate part of this place full of history — while learning about the people and techniques behind it.

Between stones, history, teamwork and international encounters, it was a unique experience where our volunteers didn’t just learn about the past… they became a small part of its story. ❤️

Swipe through the photos to discover their adventure! 👀

Never Forget: Ravensbrück and Waldbau 📋🍀

13 young people, 8 countries, and one common goal: to come together and share the memory of the women victims of the Ravensbrück concentration camp.🫱🏾‍🫲🏻

For 10 days, the participants shared an experience combining remembrance, the creation of large graffiti artworks, and the discovery of the site and its surroundings.

Once again, these international young volunteers came together to share an experience, bringing their interests and motivations together to create meaningful and enriching moments.🪴🫂

A beautiful experience that shows how far solidarity can go. ❤️

Stay tuned for more camp stories and updates — there are still plenty of beautiful stories to come on our page! 🌍

"Coming, we knew history from books. Leaving, we felt it." 🖤

15 people. Different countries, different languages, one goal: never forget.

As part of the "Never Forget: Sachsenhausen 2.4" project, we lived and worked for 3 weeks (14.07 – 04.08.2026) in Oranienburg, Germany, right next to the Sachsenhausen Memorial.

Every day was a different experience: 📍 Mornings — tracing history through group tours 🎨 Afternoons — putting our thoughts on paper in comic workshops 🧹 Some days — doing cleaning work on the memorial grounds 🤝 Evenings — discussions, friendships, shared stories

This wasn't just a volunteering project. It was a bridge between the past and today's youth.

And now each of us carries one phrase with us: never forget. 🕯️

Stay tuned for our upcoming projects to have this experience yourself 👀

🏘️3 weeks at Sachsenhausen Memorial in photos🌄

For three weeks, campleaders and participants had the opportunity to take part in a meaningful international camp in Oranienburg, Brandenburg, surrounded by forests and lakes, while learning about one of the darkest chapters of European history.

Their project took place near the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, at the site of a former brick factory and satellite camp. During the N**i regime, thousands of prisoners were forced to work there under cruel conditions, constructing buildings, producing bricks and grenades, and digging clay. Many prisoners were tortured and murdered.

They learned about the people persecuted by the N**i regime, including political opponents, Jewish people, LGBTQ+ individuals, Sinti and Roma, people persecuted as “social outsiders,” and prisoners from occupied countries.

The site was liberated by Soviet troops on April 22, 1945. After the war, part of the area became a Soviet special camp, which was used both to remove former N**is from society and to establish Soviet control in East Germany. In 1961, the memorial was inaugurated as an important national site in the GDR.

Today, Sachsenhausen is a memorial, museum, and place for education and research, dedicated to remembering the victims and keeping their stories alive.

During the three weeks, they combined learning and remembrance with practical work. they helped maintain the memorial through activities such as cleaning memorial signs and gardening, while also contributing to the documentation and preservation of historical remains and documents. 🪴🪏

Beyond the work and the history, these three weeks were also about meeting people from different backgrounds, sharing experiences, learning together, and creating memories as an international group.

Three weeks of history, reflection, teamwork and human connection — an experience that will stay with them and remind them why remembering the past matters.🌾😌✌️

✨ Looking back at our international workcamp in Othal ✨

From 15 to 24 July, 7 international volunteers, supported by 2 camp leaders, spent ten unforgettable days full of teamwork, learning, and cultural exchange at the Othal educational farm.

From taking care of the horses, pigs, donkeys, rabbits, and chickens to renovating the horse stable (whitewashing walls, painting woodwork, and tidying up), working in the vegetable garden, everyone contributed to supporting the daily life of the farm.

But this workcamp was about much more than volunteering. It was about cooking and sharing meals together, discovering recipes from different countries, spending evenings filled with games, laughter, and conversations, building friendships, and creating memories that will last long after the camp ended. ❤️
For ten days, language barriers faded away, making room for cooperation, mutual support, and meaningful intercultural connections. A huge thank you to all the volunteers, our camp leaders, and our partner for making this experience so special!

🌍 A reminder that just a few days are enough to make a positive impact, learn from one another, and create friendships that cross borders.

🌲Today, let’s look back on the adventure of the “Nature Lovers”, who spent two weeks together, living independently on Liepnitz Island while working alongside the forest rangers of the Wandlitz region.🌲

🇫🇷🇧🇪🇲🇽🇪🇸🌍Five young participants from four different countries, together with one young camp leader, shared this unique experience on Liepnitz Island, north of Berlin. The island is surrounded by crystal-clear water and breathtaking scenery. Although the camp itself is quite rustic, it offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and embrace the challenges of island life.🍏🫐

Every morning, the team crossed the lake by rowboat to reach the mainland and begin the day with the forest rangers. They were welcomed by an incredible team made up of two experienced forest “veterans” and two younger rangers which are second to none, who introduced them to a wide variety of tasks. From trimming roadside vegetation to improve safety for both drivers and wildlife, to cutting and preparing firewood, as well as discovering hidden and historically significant places around the forest, every day brought something new.🪵🪓

The participants also had the opportunity to explore Berlin and visit some of its iconic landmarks, as well as take part in a guided excursion through a nearby nature reserve organised by the rangers.🦦🐈🦃

Throughout these two weeks, the international team discovered the fascinating world that exists within the forest and actively contributed to its preservation. At the same time, they experienced what it means to live together as a community in the heart of a protected island.🪺🍁

This adventure is sure to remain a cherished memory for everyone involved. A heartfelt thank you to all the participants, as well as to the dedicated team of forest rangers from Wandlitz and the surrounding area, for making this experience so special. 🫶🏻🫶🏽🌿🪴🌳
