: During a visit to the Dekel Vilnai Middle School in Ma'ale Adumim, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Education Minister Yoav Kisch announced that starting from the upcoming school year (2026-2027), all middle schools in Israel will transition to AI-powered personalized English learning.
The Ministry of Education is moving from the AI integration phase to broad classroom implementation, expanding "Project 720" nationwide.
The program will expand across the country for the upcoming school year, with a core focus on English studies. The move is part of Education Minister Kisch’s vision to adapt the education system to the AI era and train Israel's future generation. This major expansion follows a successful pilot across 28 schools in 17 local authorities and education networks. This is a national initiative driving Israel to become one of the top three OECD countries in AI-based education.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:
"Israel is one of the first countries that is starting to implement AI for personalized learning for every single pupil, and this will continue to evolve and improve. You will remember that you were pioneers in a global shift and a major transformation for the State of Israel. It is very important to us that you feel empowered to ask any question, receive any answer, and advance. You can also use this outside of school hours. As you do, you will find it highly beneficial and user-friendly. That is where I would like to see all of you."
Education Minister Kisch:
"Starting this coming school year, all middle schools in Israel will transition to AI-powered personalized English learning, an unprecedented move marking the Israeli education system's entry into a new era.
This is one of the most significant and ambitious revolutions ever carried out in the education system. It will enable every student to learn according to their own capabilities, pace of progress, and personal needs.
This move places Israel at the forefront of the world's leading nations in integrating AI into education, representing a national jump forward in preparing the next generation for a changing world."
The Education Ministry, through its Innovation and Technology Administration, is continuing to expand Project 720, the national initiative for personalized learning in the AI era. Following the pilot during the previous school year across 28 schools, the initiative will expand to 180 middle schools nationwide. Concurrently, due to the pilot's success, the personalized learning model for English studies will be extended to all middle schools in Israel under the "English for All" program.
The expansion of the program marks the transition from the implementation and pilot phase to the widespread application of Artificial Intelligence within the learning processes themselves. This represents another step toward achieving the Ministry of Education's goal: Positioning Israel as one of the leading OECD nations in AI-based education.
As part of this expansion, participating schools will focus on English language studies. This aligns with both the personalized learning approach and a broader initiative to strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), sciences, technology, and innovation.
The program's name reflects its unique philosophy: 720 Degrees – representing 360 degrees around the student and 360 degrees around the teaching staff. Alongside tailoring a personalized learning path for every student, significant emphasis is placed on the professional development of teachers, providing them with advanced tools to offer more precise, personal guidance.
AI-based systems, including the English language application, make it possible to: Identify learning gaps, offer personalized practice, provide real-time feedback and adapt learning to each student's pace and progress. Throughout this process, the central role of the teacher is preserved as the leader of the educational journey, providing direction, meaning, and personal mentorship.
The expansion of the program is being carried out in collaboration with leading figures from high-tech, industry, and academia. This is part of a concerted effort to bridge the gap between the education system and the skills and competencies required in the future job market.
The pilot, which operated during the 2025–2026 school year, included 28 schools across 17 local authorities and educational networks, including: Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut, Rosh Ha’ayin, Kfar Saba, Jerusalem, Harish, Ramat Gan, Ra'anana, Ma'ale Adumim, Yokneam, Netanya, Petah Tikva, the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council, ORT, AMIT, Atid, Branco Weiss, Na'amat, and The Northern Center.
Ma'ale Adumim Mayor Guy Yifrah:
“"We are delighted to host Prime Minister Netanyahu and Education Minister Kisch in Ma'ale Adumim to witness firsthand the advanced educational work leading our city. Ma'ale Adumim is one of Israel's leading cities in education, boasting a 96% matriculation eligibility rate and one of the highest municipal financial investments in education in Israel. This goes hand-in-hand with pedagogical innovation, an individualized view of every student, and a breakthrough in the world of AI. The success of the 720 pilot at the Dekel Vilnai Middle School is further proof that when you invest in education, people, and technology, our children receive the best tools to succeed in a changing world."
Meirav Zarviv, Deputy Director General of the Innovation and Technology Administration at the Education Ministry:
"Project 720 embodies a modern educational philosophy that places both the student and the teacher at the center. We are shifting from a one-size-fits-all teaching model to a reality where every student has the opportunity to learn in a way that suits them, while maintaining high academic standards and developing the skills required for a changing world. Simultaneously, we provide teachers with advanced tools, data, and support, allowing them to focus on personal mentorship and pedagogical leadership. Expanding this program is another significant step in building a more innovative, flexible, and relevant education system for Israel's students."
