Meet Dr. Kohinur Islam, the medical officer of the Agroho Mobile Hospital truck — a project funded by drip by drip.

🚑 After retiring from the Bangladeshi military, Dr. Islam chose not to slow down. Instead, he dedicated himself to serving the communities in Bangladesh who need medical care the most. For the past three years, he has been leading the mobile medical team, providing essential healthcare to some of the country’s most vulnerable people on six days a week.

Today, we had the chance to finally meet him in Depasai village, Savar, where he and his team treated more than 300 patients in just eight hours.

While there, we spoke with many of the patients and heard their stories — and some of them truly shook us to the core.

Days like today remind us why we do this work.
Proud, humbled, and deeply motivated. 🙏💙

Meet Shahanaj Begum from Barigaon Badtala near Dhaka. She told us how the rainwater harvesting unit installed by our partner Agroho transformed life in her para (sub-village) by giving families access to truly clean water 💦

At first, the community was sceptical — rainwater harvesting isn’t widely known in Bangladesh. But when Shahanaj bravely used the water to cook rice and it turned out white instead of greyish, with a cleaner taste, her neighbours started using it too.

Thanks to her courage, more families now trust this safe water source.

🌧️ Together, we hope to expand this solution across the Dhaka river basin in the coming years — protecting groundwater and improving community health.

🇧🇩 Our Co-Directors Amira and Marie embarked on their first trip to Bangladesh and we couldn’t be more excited about what insights they’ll bring back.

The agenda is ambitious:

- visiting water filters & rainwater harvesting systems
- visiting wetlands
- meeting the team of our local partner organization Agroho
- visiting MHM workshops and a textile mill
- meeting VAUDE at one of their supplying factories and preparing a fantastic project that will be launched in 2026
- meeting a local water expert
- recording a number of interviews
- and visiting 2 mobile hospital camps

We’ll share their reports here daily!

🚰 This week’s posts will be highlighting our Water Filters and Deep Tube Wells collaboration!

🇧🇩 Since 2018, we have steadily made progress in our efforts to assist in tackling the water crisis in Bangladesh. In collaboration with our local partner, AGROHO, we have been able to implement biosand filters and deep tube wells for several communities in regions where textile effluents significantly impact water scarcity.

Keep joining us daily here as we celebrate progress and the power of collective action!

Today, we’re honored to highlight another story of those who were supported by the Mobile Hospitals project 🫂

This story is being shared through the words of Ridwan Haque, CEO of our project partner organization, AGROHO!

Synopsis: In the aftermath of devastating floods in Feni, Agroho’s mobile hospital brought critical medical care and hope to displaced families sheltering in a school. Beyond treating common ailments, the team addressed the silent struggles of adolescent girls by providing sanitary napkins and menstrual hygiene support. This simple yet impactful intervention restored dignity, comfort, and confidence, highlighting that true disaster relief goes beyond survival to meet essential personal needs.
