📣 New publication alert!
Ever since 2022, a wave of wartime migrants and exiles from Russia have sought to contest its war against Ukraine and authoritarian regime through transnational activism. But, as findings by the ERDAM research network show, the relationship between exile and activism is deeply ambivalent. There is no automatic extension of dissent across borders. Activism in exile is marked by complex tensions–between empowerment and despair, hope and burnout, solidarity and disengagement.
In a special issue of Post-Soviet Affairs, edited by ZOiS senior researcher Tsypylma Darieva, ZOiS research affiliate Tatiana Golova and Margarita Zavadskaya, six articles explore how new Russian exile communities in Europe and beyond navigate internal challenges and their receiving societies.
