A heartfelt thank you for your help
Dear supporters,
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for your support over the past year. Your donations have enabled us to continue our projects and break new ground in order to reach even more people in Armenia and provide sustainable help.
In the past year, the Armenian population continued to face enormous challenges. The consequences of the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh still resonate today: thousands of displaced people struggle with existential worries, while the country is confronted with ongoing geopolitical tensions, economic burdens, and social issues. The situation has not fundamentally eased; rather, it shows how important long-term support and reliable solidarity remain.
Especially in this ongoing difficult situation, your help is of invaluable value.
Thanks to your support, we were able to continue our work in 2025 and make an important contribution to alleviating the humanitarian crisis. In 2025, we collected a total of €39,228.86 through your donations and a further €450 through membership fees. In this context, we would particularly like to highlight an exceptionally generous individual donation: On the recommendation of the Armenian community in Leipzig, Mr. Schwarzer made his life savings of €20,000 available to the association – with expressed wish to support the refugees from Artsakh. Mr. Schwarzer has been closely connected to Armenian culture and the country for many years: he has traveled to Armenia several times, translated Armenian literature into German, and is considered a long-standing friend of the Armenian people. Out of gratitude and recognition, he was appointed an honorary member of our association by the general assembly on January 30, 2025.
On February 2, our chairwoman Ms. Lilit Kocharyan attended an event of the Armenian community in Leipzig and ceremoniously presented Mr. Schwarzer with the certificate of honorary membership as well as selected gifts from Armenia.
In 2025, our expenses amounted to €18,126.58, which are composed as follows:
Patients from Armenia
65-year-old Natalya suffered a second stroke in February 2024, which led to partial paralysis and the need for long-term care. Since then, she has been regularly cared for by an outpatient nursing service in her apartment in Yerevan. In the past year also, we have financially supported the necessary care and paid for the ongoing care costs and medication totaling €2,140.81. Since Natalya continues to rely on continuous care, she needs our support. The fundraising for Natalya is ongoing.
Jim, now 17, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy at the age of 5. This is a rare genetic disease that results in progressive muscle weakness and increasing restrictions on mobility. The disease is not curable but can be significantly stabilized through lifelong drug therapy with Evrysdi, which currently costs about 1500eur/monthly. The family cannot bear the treatment costs alone; with your donations totaling €1,562.99 we were able to support them in 2025. Continuous therapy is crucial to stabilize Jim's condition and maintain his quality of life, which is why we continue to collect donations for his treatment.
For a 74-year-old breast cancer patient, we covered the one-time cost of the medication Orserdu in the amount of €7,401.88 in 2025. We were able to procure the medication in Germany and deliver it to the patient in Armenia so that she could continue the urgently needed treatment.
Caroline Cox Rehabilitation Centre
We are continuing our cooperation with the Cox Rehab Center in Armenia also after the displacement of Armenians from Artsakh. In 2025, we again supported the center with humanitarian aid for its employees. In addition, we provided the facility with diapers delivered from Germany for patients of all ages, especially for children with developmental disorders or bedridden patients. Since diapers are very expensive in Armenia and certain sizes are sometimes unavailable, we will continue this support in the future – for which we remain dependent on your donations. We also passed on a large portion of the medication we received as donations in kind to the Cox Clinic.
Medical and Humanitarian Aid to Armenia
Due to the war, the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh and the resulting influx of refugees, there continued to be a significant need for medical and humanitarian aid in Armenia in 2025. We obtain the products required for this through, among others, the organization Innatura, which bundles brand-new goods donated by companies and makes them available at a low price to non-profit associations and social institutions registered in Germany. In this way, we were able to ship around 1.5 tons of aid to Armenia last year. The humanitarian aid was distributed to refugees from Artsakh as well as to patients of the association and needy families in various regions of Armenia.
In 2025, we paid a total of €4,930.71 for the purchase, transport and storage of the goods.
We would like to thank our logistics partner Barekam Logistics for the discounts granted on the shipping costs for sending humanitarian goods from Germany to Armenia.
Trauma Healing Projects
Humanitarian and medical aid remain essential, but the events of 2023 also left deep emotional scars that require targeted trauma work. Corresponding projects were launched in 2024 and focus on both those affected in Armenia and the Armenian diaspora in Germany. Our projects and activities are accompanied by external expert Sonya Saroyan (PhD, University of Exeter, UK). In April, our chairwoman Ms. Kocharyan visited various organizations in Armenia together with Ms. Saroyan to discuss possible collaborations in the areas of trauma awareness and coping, resilience and capacity building with Armenian professionals. Partners visited included the Association of Social Workers in Armenia and the Cox Rehabilitation Center.
In July 2025, Ms. Saroyan also conducted a one-day training for the staff of the Cox Rehabilitation Center. Topics covered included mechanisms of individual and collective trauma, nervous system regulation, psychosomatic connections, and the influence of the social environment.
Furthermore, the association covered the costs of a four-month online training on psychosomatic techniques "Integrating Somatic Techniques in Therapy", which was successfully completed by Narine Abrahamyan-Tovmasyan , a psychologist with Artsakh roots living in Armenia. She has already been able to apply the knowledge acquired in several programs for the prevention and management of occupational burnout, in which displaced professionals from Artsakh also participated. In the next step, it is planned to pass this knowledge on to the team at the Cox Rehab Clinic in order to further strengthen local care – especially for the displaced Armenians from Artsakh. After that, further training for social workers, psychologists, physiotherapists and doctors in Armenia will be organized and carried out.
Additionally, our internal trauma projects team in Germany and Armenia also completed a 2-day online training on topic sensitization, led by Ms. Saroyan, in autumn 2025.
A total of €911.47 in expenses were incurred for the project area last year.
Diaper Program
As part of our Diaper Program launched in 2025, we provide diapers for premature and underweight babies (Pampers sizes 0, P1, P2, P3). Families can still apply for this by contacting us. In addition, however, we also aim to establish collaborations with hospitals and maternity homes at currently three locations in Armenia so that the diapers can be distributed directly as needed there.
Misc
Further costs in 2025 were incurred for the maintenance of the association's website (€416), bank account management fees (€35), office materials (€165), member activities (€166) and notary and association register fees (€395).
Kamurdsch-Brücke e.V. is still represented on the platform Benevity! through which companies double the donations of their employees. Please check whether your company is on benevity.org.
Projects 2026
Our existing projects will continue to be carried out with great commitment in the future, while we simultaneously examine new needs and align our help accordingly. We continue to accept new patient inquiries and support those seeking help with the resources available to us. Our newest patient, 44-year-old Lyudmila from Artsakh, is a single mother of two. Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2022, she was unable to travel to Yerevan for treatment due to the Artsakh blockade, as a result of which her condition significantly worsened. In the meantime, the family has settled in Yerevan, where Lyudmila is being treated; however, she has to cover the costs of necessary medication in the amount of €370 per month herself. For the refugee family this represents a major financial burden, which is why they are dependent on our donations.
Please note that we also continue to urgently need donations in kind, especially clothing, shoes, towels, bed sheets, household items etc. We collect mainly in Berlin; please use the contact details provided above for this.
In addition to caring for our patients and providing humanitarian and medical aid, projects for trauma healing in particular will form a central focus of our future work as an association, as we consider this area to be particularly urgent and important in view of the ongoing stresses and needs. Thus, in the coming years, we want to increase our efforts to acquire funding for these projects. At the same time, however, we are reaching our limits in terms of personnel and organization, so that we have to temporarily pause some other projects, such as our autism support projects or the pen pal program for refugee children from Artsakh. This development clearly shows how much our work depends on active participation and voluntary commitment.
Therefore, we are urgently looking for new members and supporters! Every additional hand, every idea and every form of participation helps us to resume and expand projects and create new offers. If you would like to support our mission, we cordially invite you to become part of our association. Together we can help provide sustainable assistance and accompany people in difficult life situations. We look forward to hearing from you via social media, email or telephone.
We are at your disposal at any time for questions and further information.
