Aangezien het praktisch mijn voortuin is, kan ik er niet omheen: Tempelhofer Feld ✈️ Mijn favoriete plek in mijn wijk, en sinds ik in Berlijn woon, ook van heel Berlijn! Het is het oude vliegveld dat pas in 2006(!) dicht ging, midden tussen de woonwijken.

Deze plek heeft veel geschiedenis, wat te zien is op en rondom het veld. Nu is het een fantastische recreatieplek voor wandelen 🚶 fietsen 🚲 kiteboarden, theaters 🎭 community gardens 🌱 barbecuen 🔥 vogels spotten, vliegers vliegeren, kruiden zoeken 🌿 dansen in de ondergaande zon, en nog veel meer. In 20 jaar is het een fantastische reflectie geworden van het leven in Berlijn. En ja, ook op regenachtige dagen is het een fantastische plek.

Ondanks dat de inwoners van Berlijn bij een ‚Volksentscheid‘ in 2014 gestemd hebben om Tempelhofer Feld onbebouwd te laten, blijft het een terugkerend punt van discussie in de lokale politiek om (een deel van) het veld beschikbaar te maken voor woningbouw. Ondanks dat ik dit snap gezien de woningcrisis hier, betekent het dat een uniek stuk Berlijn verloren zou gaan. Ik hoop dat het blijft bestaan! 🤞

Since it's practically my front garden, there's no way around it: Tempelhofer Feld ✈️ My favourite spot in my neighbourhood, and since living in Berlin, my favourite in the whole city! It's the old airport that only closed in 2006(!), right in the middle of the residential areas.

This place carries a lot of history, visible on and around the field. Now it's a fantastic recreational spot for walking 🚶 cycling 🚲 kiteboarding, theatres 🎭 community gardens 🌱 barbecuing 🔥 birdwatching, flying kites, foraging for herbs 🌿 dancing in the setting sun, and much more. Over 20 years, it's become a fantastic reflection of life in Berlin. And yes, even on rainy days, it's a fantastic place.

Although Berlin residents voted in a 2014 referendum ('Volksentscheid') to keep Tempelhofer Feld free of development, it remains a recurring point of discussion in local politics whether to make (part of) the field available for housing. While I understand that, given the housing crisis here, it would mean losing a unique piece of Berlin. I hope it stays as it is! 🤞

Zomer in Berlijn is voor mij toch wel het beste seizoen. De stad leeft, de parken zitten vol en iedereen lijkt net wat meer buiten te zijn.

Ik woon in Friedrichshain en een van mijn favoriete plekken hier is de oever van de Spree, met uitzicht op de Oberbaumbrücke. Ik kom hier regelmatig met vrienden, voor een wandeling, een boek of gewoon om de zonsondergang te bekijken 🌅

Wat ik leuk vind aan deze plek, is dat je hier niet alleen van het Berlijn van vandaag geniet, maar ook midden in de geschiedenis van de stad zit. Vlakbij ligt de East Side Gallery, een stuk van de voormalige Berlijnse Muur dat door kunstenaars van over de hele wereld is beschilderd.

Ook de Oberbaumbrücke zelf heeft een bijzonder verhaal. Tijdens de deling van Berlijn was dit een grensovergang tussen Oost- en West-Berlijn. Tegenwoordig is het vooral een van mijn favoriete plekken om even stil te staan en over de stad uit te kijken.

Tip: pak de U-Bahn (metro) en neem de route over de brug 🚇 Vanaf de metro heb je een nog mooier uitzicht over de Spree en de skyline van Berlijn.

For me, summer is definitely the best season in Berlin. The city comes alive, the parks fill up and everyone seems to spend a little more time outside.

I live in Friedrichshain, and one of my favourite spots here is the banks of the Spree, with a view of the Oberbaumbrücke. I come here regularly with friends, for a walk, to read a book or simply to catch the sunset 🌅

What I love about this place is that you are not only enjoying Berlin as it is today, you are also surrounded by the city’s history. The East Side Gallery is just around the corner, a remaining section of the former Berlin Wall covered in artwork by artists from all over the world.

The Oberbaumbrücke itself also has an important history. During the division of Berlin, it was a border crossing between East and West Berlin. today, it is one of my favourite places to stop for a moment and take in the city.

Tip: take the U-Bahn (underground) across the bridge 🚇 You get a great view of the Spree and Berlin’s skyline along the way.

De Kaisersteg, de voetgangers- en fietsbrug die Ober- en Niederschöneweide met elkaar verbindt, is zonder twijfel een van mijn favoriete plekken in de wijk.

Een brug waar ik inmiddels ontelbaar vaak overheen ben gefietst 🚲 Niet alleen vanwege het mooie uitzicht over de Spree, maar vooral ook vanwege wat er direct naast ligt: het oude AEG-fabrieksterrein.

Een enorm terrein met oude, deels leegstaande fabrieksgebouwen, waar steeds meer interessante dingen ontstaan. Concerten 🎶 marktjes 🛍️ evenementen en allerlei andere initiatieven zorgen ervoor dat het hier steeds meer gaat leven ✨

Maar misschien wel het allerbeste wat je hier kunt doen? De zonsondergang bekijken 🌅

The Kaisersteg, the pedestrian and cycling bridge connecting Ober- and Niederschöneweide, is without a doubt one of my favourite spots in the neighbourhood.

A bridge I've cycled over countless times by now 🚲 Not just because of the beautiful view over the Spree, but especially because of what lies right next to it: the old AEG factory site.

A huge site with old, partly abandoned factory buildings, where more and more interesting things are happening. Concerts 🎶 small markets 🛍️ events and all kinds of other initiatives are bringing this place more and more to life ✨

But maybe the best thing you can do here? Watch the sunset 🌅

Brunnen… Bad… die woorden zijn geen toeval! Hier ontstond namelijk in de 18e eeuw een kuuroord rondom een geneeskrachtige bron 💧 Die bron is intussen opgedroogd, maar als ik tussen de boeken struin, kan ik me het gekir van de badderende dames zo voorstellen 🛁✨

Als ik de drukte van de stad even wil ontvluchten, ga ik vaak naar Rehberge. Daar kun je bijna vergeten dat je je in een miljoenenstad bevindt. Het park is enorm groot en ik ontdek er nog steeds nieuwe plekjes. 🌲 Daarnaast is er ook een gave Freiluftkino. 🎬

Whenever I want to escape the hustle and bustle for a while, I head to Rehberge, where it's easy to forget you're in a city of millions. The park is huge, and I still keep discovering new spots. 🌲 It also has a wonderful open-air cinema. 🎬

In my opinion, it's one of Berlin's true hidden gems. 💚"

Met de opening van Tabadoul Guesthouse in zicht is het team van Tabadoul Berlin volop bezig met de laatste voorbereidingen. Daarom staken wij vandaag graag een handje toe. 💪

Onze klus? Stoelen schuren zodat ze een frisse nieuwe laag verf kunnen krijgen. Tijdens het werk ontstonden mooie gesprekken over alle mogelijkheden die deze nieuwe groepsaccommodatie straks gaat bieden. We dachten samen na over de inrichting, praktische ideeën en hoe we het verblijf voor onze groepen nóg beter kunnen maken.

We zijn ontzettend blij dat onze groepen binnenkort ook in Tabadoul Guesthouse kunnen verblijven. We kijken ernaar uit om vanuit deze plek weer mooie internationale uitwisselingen en leerervaringen mogelijk te maken. 🌍

Heel veel succes aan met de laatste loodjes. We kunnen niet wachten om in september onze eerste groep te verwelkomen!

With the opening of Tabadoul Guesthouse getting closer, the Tabadoul Berlin team is busy with the final preparations. Today, the Clash! team was happy to lend a hand. 💪

Our task? Sanding chairs so they can receive a fresh coat of paint. While working together, we had great conversations about everything this new group accommodation will make possible. We exchanged ideas about the interior, practical improvements and how we can make future stays even better for our groups.

We're excited that soon our groups will also be staying at Tabadoul Guesthouse. We can't wait to create many more international exchanges and meaningful learning experiences from this wonderful place. 🌍

Terugkijkend op het afgelopen schooljaar is het bijna onmogelijk om één favoriet project te kiezen. Toch springt de uitwisseling met de niveau 2-studenten Detailhandel van het Graafschap College eruit. 🌍

Vijf dagen lang gingen we in gesprek over cultuur, identiteit, vooroordelen, kritisch denken en verschillende perspectieven. De diversiteit binnen de groep en de fijne samenwerking met het docententeam maakten het extra bijzonder.

Aan het einde van de week zag je hoeveel de studenten waren gegroeid. Dát is voor mij waar internationale uitwisselingen om draaien. 🤝

Looking back on the past school year, it's almost impossible to choose just one favourite project. Still, the exchange with the Level 2 Retail students from Graafschap College stands out. 🌍

Over five days, we explored culture, identity, stereotypes, critical thinking and different perspectives. The diversity within the group and the great collaboration with the teachers made the experience even more meaningful.

By the end of the week, it was inspiring to see how much the students had grown. That's what international exchanges are all about for me. 🤝

Margot's favourite project of the year? Without a doubt: FLOW. Here's why:

"Medéric from La Pangée and I met at COOP 2025—a partnership forum organised by Peuple et Culture, BDP Bund Deutscher Pfadfinder_innen and Interkulturelles Netzwerk e.V. , where organisations come together to turn ideas into new international collaborations.

A few months later, we found ourselves on a stage in Potsdam—dressed as a captain and a mermaid 🧜⚓ hosting the final show of a week-long exchange at Treibgut Naturcamp. A group of performing artists from Germany and France had a week to explore, create and learn from one another 🎭

And sometimes you look at a group and just know: wow, this is working. New artistic collaborations and new friendships are taking shape right in front of you. 🤝

That kind of magic only happens when people are willing to show up with openness and curiosity. Thank you to every participant, and to Sylvie (Treibgut) and Médéric (La Pangée) for making FLOW such a special collaboration.

Deze vragen staan centraal in de geschiedenis van Kreuzberg, waar protest, muziek en activisme al decennialang onderdeel zijn van het dagelijks leven.

We begonnen de week met een inspirerende tour door de punk-, protest- en feministische geschiedenis van de wijk, samen met de deelnemers van . 🎶

Deze internationale groep professionele muzikanten is in Berlijn om nieuwe muziek te maken, elkaar te inspireren en ideeën uit te wisselen. Tijdens de interactieve tour ontdekten zij een kant van de stad die nauw aansluit bij hun artistieke interesses: de verbinding tussen muziek, maatschappelijke verandering en de kracht van collectieve stemmen. 🌍

Who does public space belong to? And whose voices are heard? ✊

These questions are deeply connected to Kreuzberg’s history, where protest, music and activism have been part of everyday life for decades.

We kicked off the week with an inspiring tour exploring Kreuzberg’s history of punk, protest and feminism alongside the participants of The Playground Residence. 🎶

This international group of professional musicians is in Berlin to create new music, inspire one another and exchange ideas. During the interactive tour, they explored a side of the city that closely connects with their artistic interests: the relationship between music, social change and the power of collective voices. 🌍

Afgelopen semester was mijn eerste semester bij Clash! En wat heb ik daarvan genoten.

Eén favoriet project kiezen is eigenlijk onmogelijk. 💬 Ik heb zoveel mooie gesprekken gevoerd, bijzondere ontmoetingen gehad en ontzettend veel geleerd.

De projecten die me het meest zijn bijgebleven, zijn de momenten waarop studenten mij een eerlijk inkijkje gaven in hun leefwereld. 🌍 Juist de gesprekken tussen mensen met verschillende culturen, landen, talen en achtergronden raakten mij. Het luisteren naar elkaars verhalen, nieuwsgierig zijn naar elkaars ervaringen en elkaar écht proberen te begrijpen. 🤝

Als ik dan toch één project moet noemen, is dat het project met Curio Start Anderstalig. Dat is mij vooral bijgebleven door de enorme diversiteit aan mensen én de ongelofelijke openheid van de studenten. Ik kijk hier nog steeds met heel veel plezier op terug.

Ik vind het bijzonder hoeveel openheid en eerlijkheid de studenten laten zien, niet alleen in gesprekken met mij, maar ook met elkaar. Daardoor worden zelfs de moeilijkste onderwerpen bespreekbaar en ontstaat er meer wederzijds begrip.

En juist dát is iets waarvan ik geloof dat de wereld er altijd meer van kan gebruiken. 🧡🩵

Last semester was my first semester at Clash!, and I look back on it with so much joy.

Choosing just one favorite project is nearly impossible. 💬 I have had so many meaningful conversations, met inspiring people, and learned so much along the way.

The projects that stayed with me the most are the moments when students gave me an honest glimpse into their everyday lives and experiences. 🌍 Especially the conversations between people with different cultures, countries, languages, and backgrounds really touched me. Listening to each other’s stories, being curious about each other’s experiences, and genuinely trying to understand one another. 🤝

If I had to choose one project, it would be the project with Curio Start Anderstalig. What stood out to me most was the incredible diversity of the people involved and the openness of the students. It is something I still look back on with so much joy.
I find it truly special how much honesty and openness the students show, not only in their conversations with me, but also with each other. Because of that, even the most difficult topics become easier to talk about, creating more understanding and connection.
