The information is exclusively drawn from reports of scientific institutes, UN organizations, national departments, and other trustworthy sources. The purpose of the survey on global challenges is to encourage decision-makers in business and politics to continue and increase their efforts in addressing the most urgent issues. The project is independent, non-commercial and not bound to any social faction, company, state, party or religion.

El Niño taking place the Equitorial Pacific Ocean has matched the all time El Niño temperature record of 3.07C above the average set in 2015. It’s also remarkable to note how early the temperature has been reached.

From our knowledge and understanding of past El Nino events the warming begins to gradually accelerate after mid September.

Global weather patterns will be super charged with effects lasting into 2027. Globally, next year is likely to be the hottest year on record.

For the UK we can expect a stormier and mild end to autumn and start to winter and traditionally a cold end to winter (January/February)

On a side note. If you’re able to and haven’t already done so, I’d consider locking in your energy tariff. As a cold winter prediction will likely mean an increased demand in energy.

Paul Crutzen, Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1995 for helping us understand why the ozone layer, which protects us from harmful UV radiation, was disappearing.

On this day, in 1987, nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer in order to fix the problem. Thanks to the laureates' work we have managed to reverse this depletion and today the ozone layer is starting to recover.
