Die Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste e.V. (IGBK) in Berlin ist eine zentrale Dachorganisation für bildende Künstler*innen und ihren internationalen Austausch. Seit einigen Jahren vernetzt sie zudem künstlerische Residenzprogramme im nationalen und internationalen Kontext, insbesondere kleinere, von Künstler*innen selbst initiierte und geleitete Strukturen.

Die IGBK vermittelt Wissen an Betreiber*innen, Künstler*innen, Kulturpolitiker*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen. Dafür kooperiert sie mit verschiedenen Organisationen, lädt zu digitalen Netzwerktreffen mit wechselnden Themenschwerpunkten ein und erstellt praxisnahe Checklisten. Darüber hinaus setzt sie sich dafür ein, die kulturelle und gesellschaftliche Bedeutung von Residenzprogrammen sichtbar zu machen, besonders im ländlichen Raum. Im Projekt „onAIRISM“ wurde über zwei Jahre der Fokus auf die Arbeit und Visionen von Künstler*innenresidenzen und deren Vernetzung in Europa und im globalen Süden in verschiedenen Veranstaltungsformaten gelegt. Auf der Website der IGBK findet sich außerdem ein Mapping von Künstler*innenresidenzen der Bildenden Kunst in Deutschland.

Die IGBK tauscht sich mit über dreißig Kulturinstitutionen Im Arbeitskreis Deutscher Internationaler Residenzprogramme () zur Weiterentwicklung von Residenzarbeit aus. Der Arbeitskreis koordiniert kulturpolitische Anliegen und macht Potentiale von Residenzarbeit öffentlich sichtbar.

💥 Das war unsere Veranstaltung am 21. Mai: Kulturelle Vielfalt in Bewegung: Vorzugsbehandlung & Mobilität

Welche Hürden verhindern heute noch faire Mobilität zwischen Deutschland/Europa und dem Globalen Süden? Welche Visa-/Aufenthaltsbarrieren sind in Deutschland besonders häufig – was wären schnelle Hebel?

Ein großer Dank an alle Teilnehmenden vor Ort und online, an alle Beteiligten für die Inputs und für diese eindrückliche Live-Performance von .ekici.

Here’s a look back at our event on 21 May: Cultural Diversity in Motion: Preferential Treatment & Mobility

What obstacles still prevent fair mobility between Germany/Europe and the Global South today? Which visa and residency barriers are particularly common in Germany—and what quick solutions could be implemented?

On 21 May 2026, to mark UNESCO World Day for Cultural Diversity, the .germany, the and the IGBK invite you to the ITI Mediathek.

The goal is to define common priorities for the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and to strengthen networks.

Audio interviews from the IGBK project „Opening Space | Promoting Encounters“ will be presented as a podcast series within the scope of the project „Berlin Carousel“.

What is the scope for interdisciplinary and socially engaged art practices? What approaches and models can be identified? How do artists and participants, through collaboration, gain practical strategies and methods for civil society resilience?

Delegates of the Internationale Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste are in conversation with initiatives from Belgrade (with Vahida Ramujkić), Sinop (with T. Melih Görgün) and Skopje (Nikola Pisarev).

„Berlin Carousel is conceived of as an empirical exploration of the structure of the 330-year-old society of artists and defines itself as artistic research and practice: a temporary, open platform serves as an organisational basis and provides a temporal framework for concurrent transdisciplinary artistic work. The diverse and heterogeneous selection of artistic activities – productions, workshops, performances, concerts, writing labs and discursive formats – converges in a non-linear score by Arnold Dreyblatt.“

IGBK supports exchange among artists worldwide and promotes dialogue across borders in the visual arts, broadening perspectives and creating new spaces for experience and connection.

Unsere Delegierten stellen sich vor:
ist bildende Künstlerin mit einem natur- und humanwissenschaftlichem Background und einem zweiten Zuhause in Neufundland. Ihre interdisziplinäre Praxis an der Schnittstelle von Kunst und Forschung verbindet Recherche und Experiment, Imagination und Embodiment. Mittels Fotografie, Video, Installation und Performance setzt sie sich mit der Komplexität unserer Wirklichkeit auseinander und lädt uns ein, mehr-als-menschliches Miteinander neu zu denken – und zu praktizieren.
Rona ist seit 2016 Delegierte des Deutschen Künstlerbundes in der IGBK und engagiert sich dort mit ihren internationalen Erfahrungen und Kontakten für grenzüberschreitendes Networking und die Sichtbarmachung der gesellschaftlichen Relevanz künstlerischen Schaffens.

Introducing our delegates:
Rona Rangsch is a visual artist with a background in the natural sciences and humanities, and a second home in Newfoundland. Her interdisciplinary practice at the intersection of art and research combines inquiry and experimentation, imagination and embodiment. Through photography, video, installation, and performance, she engages with the complexity of our reality and invites us to rethink – and re-practice – more-than-human becoming-with.
Rona has been a delegate of Deutscher Künstlerbund to the IGBK since 2016, where she contributes her international experience and connections to promote cross-border networking and to highlight the social relevance of artistic practice.
