Connecting Across Borders: Seizing Synergies hosts networking evening in Yerevan

Together with our local partner .am we brought together journalists and civil society representatives.

It was great to see everyone sitting down, sharing perspectives on what independent journalism looks like on the ground and realizing we're all dealing with the same pressures across the region.

For us at n-ost, the event felt like a step forward in growing our network and making sure independent voices stay genuinely connected.

Seizing Synergies connects independent media outlets from Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine to produce cross-border journalism together.

Personal objects carry stories, and documentary photography has its own language for telling them.

Next Wednesday, we'll be looking into someone else's kitchen: into the domestic spaces of rural Belarusian villages, and into a conversation about what images can capture that words alone cannot.

What's on the menu?
• What makes an interior an archive, and what is lost when it disappears?
• What can documentary photography show that written reporting cannot?
• What does this kind of work change for the people photographed, for the audiences who see it, or for the culture it tries to preserve?

Whether you work in visual journalism or are interested in documentary practice, there's a spot for you at our table.

Join our discussion with:
• Andrei Liankevich (documentary photographer)
• Olga Bubich (essayist, visual artist and curator)

Moderated by Lina Weisener (n-ost)

When & Where?
• Wednesday, 3 June 2026
• 6–8 pm
• n-ost media hub, Erkelenzdamm 59/61, Portal 1b, 10999 Berlin

You're covering energy in Berlin, Kyiv or Prague? And you want to see how the other two cities are doing it?

n-ost is looking for nine journalists to join "Reporting Resilient Cities": study trips to Berlin, Prague and Kyiv to report on how each city is navigating the energy transition. They will meet experts, activists and city representatives, deepen their knowledge of a topic that's reshaping urban life across Europe, and build connections with colleagues from all three cities.

In July, we visit Prague and Berlin (13–17 July). In August, we go to Kyiv, to see how the Ukrainian capital is rebuilding its energy infrastructure and planning a green recovery under war conditions.

What we're looking for:
• Proven interest in energy topics
• Working for national or international media
• At least three years of professional experience
• English proficiency
• Willingness to publish at least one long-form article on the project's topics

Deadline: 8 June 2026

Introducing "Reporting Resilient Cities": a project on the energy transition in Berlin, Kyiv and Prague.

In the past year, all three cities have faced serious energy disruptions. Each is responding through grid decentralisation, renewables, or infrastructure investment. This project connects journalists from Berlin, Kyiv and Prague to report on what each city is doing, what's working, and what others can learn from it.

Sixteen years of authoritarian media policy are over. With a record-breaking voter turnout, Péter Magyar and his Tisza party have ended Viktor Orbán's reign. But dismantling what he built is a different challenge entirely.
