What does it mean to make, think and work politically from the body, not just from theory? 💖
Join us for an evening with Myriam D. Diatta, designer, author and independent scholar, for a reading and conversation around her new book, Doing Creative Work from Your Political Body: A Guide and Process for Practice-led Research.
Myriam Diatta is Black-Asian, Japanese-Diola, with a political and creative foundation nurtured in New York City, and is now based in Aarhus, Denmark. Her work spans design, teaching, facilitation, consulting, mentoring and research, exploring the intersection of politically engaged work and creative knowledge production.
She’ll be joined by Asmaa S., curator, performance artist, co-founder of Oré Arts e.V. and BIWOC* Rising community member. For over 16 years, Asmaa has connected artistic practice, community organising and activism, bringing embodied knowledge into decolonial and Afrocentric cultural practice.
Together, they’ll explore the everyday work of politically engaged artists, designers, writers, musicians, educators, researchers and cultural workers and what we learn from actually living, making and navigating the worlds we work within. 📖
What do you make?
Where do you make it?
