LaD.I.Y.fest is a non-profit, ‘Do It Yourself’ (D.I.Y.) festival of music, art, film, discussions and workshops. It is organized and orchestrated on a voluntary basis by feminist woman/lesbian/ trans*/genderqueer (wlt*gq) activists, artists and musicians of various

genders. It helps to showcase the skills and talents of a diverse group of groundbreaking feminist people working in the arts, community building and activism. It is a participato- ry festival, and most importantly, a community festival that is bound together within a worldwide network. the history of Ladyfest traces back to the riot Grrrl movement in the us which took place in the beginning of the 90‘s. when the term ‘girl’ became more and more adopted by both the fa- shion and music industries, the grrrls took matters into their own hands and created the tougher and more mature ‘lady’ to create a new subversive term that they could better relate to. they formed a more fitting and independent identity to show that feminism could be cool, refractory, sexy and nasty at the same time. After the first Ladyfest 2000 in olympia, the idea soon spread to england, Italy, the netherlands and Germany. In 2003 three independent Ladyfests happened in Hamburg, ber- lin and Leipzig. In 2013, LaD.I.Y.fest is happening for the 11th time in berlin. throughout the entire event, we endeavour to take the initial ideas which inspired the original Ladyfest by— „empowering the presence of women in the arts“ and taking them further— outside of the binary gender system. It is about empowerment and the political project of quashing preconceptions of what determines identities. our goal is to re- define gender stereotypes and styles. All genders are welcome at all events at LaD.I.Y.fest berlin (unless otherwise stated).

Theater Workshop: "Self-Care, Body, and Territory"

This theater workshop is based on the methodology Teatro de Las Oprimidas – a feminist aesthetic of the Theater of the Oppressed (TdU), systematized by Bárbara Santos and inspired by the healing words of author Lorena Cabnal, the creator of Community Feminism.

The workshop aims to be a safe space for FLINTA* individuals of all ages, backgrounds, skin colors, and experiences.

It is designed for both actors and non-actors, exploring the idea of the body as territory – as a place we inhabit and that, in turn, defines us.

Facilitator and director Uriara Maciel invites participants to reflect on their social roles and relationship with society – with the goal of empowering especially those bodies that do not conform to societal norms.

Over the course of 10 sessions spread across 3 months, from July to October, participants will collectively create a theater piece that will be performed at the end of the project.

This workshop is free of charge.

Theater Workshop "Self-Care, body and territory"

Der Theaterworkshop basiert auf der Methodik Teatro de Las Oprimidas - Feministische Ästhetik des Theaters der Unterdrückten (TdU), systematisiert von Bárbara Santos und inspiriert von den heilenden Worten der Autorin Lorena Cabnal, der Schöpferin des Community Feminism.

Der Workshop soll ein sicherer Raum für FLINTA* Menschen jeden Alters, jeder Herkunft, jeder Hautfarbe und jedes Hintergrunds sein.

Ein Workshop für Schauspieler*innen und Nicht-Schauspieler*innen, der die Idee vom Körper als Territorium erforscht – als Ort, den wir bewohnen und der gleichzeitig auch uns ausmacht.

Die Moderatorin und Direktorin Uriara Maciel dazu ein, über die eigene gesellschaftliche Rolle und das Verhältnis zur Gesellschaft nachzudenken – mit dem Ziel, besonders jene Körper zu stärken, die nicht der Norm entsprechen.

In 10 Treffen über 3 Monate, von Juli bis Oktober, erarbeiten die Teilnehmenden ein Theaterstück, das am Ende des Projekts aufgeführt wird.
