In Trinidad and Tobago, 's Institute for Alternative Development - WINAD is strengthening women’s leadership in efforts to reduce gun‑related violence. Through community consultations, capacity‑building and the creation of a Women’s Council, the initiative supports local women in shaping gender‑responsive approaches to disarmament and small arms control. The project contributed to safer and more resilient communities in areas affected by high levels of violence.

We are pleased to share impressions from Culture in Motion: Weaving Peace and Rights in Guatemala, a project implemented by Lúdica in the municipalities of Santa Cruz del Quiché and Santa María Nebaj in Guatemala.
Through creative workshops, community dialogues and leadership trainings, the project empowers Indigenous youth and women to become advocates for peace, gender equality and the protection of cultural identity. By strengthening local leadership and fostering intergenerational exchange, participants are building pathways towards inclusive participation and social cohesion in communities shaped by historical exclusion and violence.
Their courage, creativity and commitment demonstrate how locally rooted cultural work can contribute to lasting transformation.
The project is funded by Ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen's Zivik Funding Programme with funds from the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt ).

Some impressions from the workshop organised by Center for Affirmative Social Actions - CASA as part of the project Creative Agents of Social Inclusion and Peace.
Bringing together young civil society representatives and socially engaged artists from Kosovo and Serbia, the workshop explored how artistic expression and cultural activism can strengthen social inclusion, foster dialogue and contribute to peacebuilding across communities.
The commitment and creativity shown by the participants highlight how young people are driving positive change and helping to build bridges in regions shaped by long‑standing tensions.

A look back at the Open Day at the Federal Foreign Office 2025.
Last year’s Open Day at the Federal Foreign Office gave us a fantastic opportunity to introduce visitors to Ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen's work and to share how we strengthen cultural relations and foster international dialogue.
Our ifa team enjoyed meeting so many curious and engaged guests at the stand. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and showed interest in our projects and activities. Your enthusiasm made the weekend truly special.
We’re already looking forward to the next Open Day — and to continuing these inspiring conversations. ©D. Marschalsky

Empowering Young Voices for Peace
We were delighted to see colleagues from the German Embassy Nairobi Somalia ’s activities and experience how young people are driving dialogue and building bridges in conflict-affected communities. Their energy and commitment show that lasting peace begins with inclusive participation. YECO’s work is a powerful example of how youth engagement can transform challenges into opportunities for change. Together, we can turn ideas into impact. We are excited to share a glimpse of our latest initiative in Homa Bay.
As part of the Young Women in Leadership: 50/50 Campaign, Social Justice League Kenya League hosted a vibrant netball event – bringing together young women to celebrate teamwork, leadership and political participation.
This is more than a game. It’s about building confidence, creating networks and inspiring the next generation of female leaders ahead of Kenya’s 2027 elections. The project is funded by Ifa - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen's Zivik Funding Programme with funds from Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office).
