Our Inspiration Salon at Hotel Pullman Hotels and Resorts followed a photographic food journey that took us from the Netherlands to the USA, Saudi Arabia, Kenya and China.
Kadir van Lohuizen, photographer and filmmaker, known for his in depth visual investigations into global power structures presented his latest work and engaged in a thought-provoking conversation with ANSC’s Jörg Geier, curator of the Salon.
What became clear very quickly: our food system is one of the most globally interconnected and fragile systems humanity has ever built.
Across all these stories, a few patterns emerge: Our food travels further than ever before. Technology travels even faster. Climate instability affects every geography differently, yet simultaneously. And the economic realities—from mega-ranches to $2-a-day wages—are starkly unequal.
Musical ambience for the evening was provided by Bakr Khleifi, which subtly reinforced the themes of movement, place, and human interconnectedness.
