🌳 Have you met Berlin’s oldest living resident yet?

Meet the legendary Dicke Marie, an oak tree that has been standing for almost 900 years. Long before Berlin became the city we know today, she was already growing, reminding us that strength comes from deep roots, community and belonging.

Join us this Sunday for a special Youth Circle Summer Adventure as we explore the Tegel Forest, collect natural treasures for next week’s Forest Lab, share food, play and enjoy an afternoon in nature together.

🤎 For children of African descent and the African diaspora, their families and friends.

At kindezi.world, we ask a simple question:

What happens when children grow up without having to leave parts of themselves behind to belong?

Too many children learn early that safety means becoming smaller. Quieter. Less visible. Less connected to their language, culture, emotions, or history.

We believe another reality is possible.

Rooted in African and Afrodiasporic traditions of collective care, Kindezi.World creates spaces where children are not only taught, but truly seen.

Through storytelling, movement, creativity, emotional learning, and intergenerational connection, we nurture confidence, curiosity, and cultural pride.

Because education is never neutral.
It either disconnects children from themselves or helps them grow into who they already are.

We choose the second path. 🌍

We are proud to share the new promotional video for tubman t(w)eenagers – Empowerment für Schwarze Jugendliche, a project by tubman.network e. V.

Black children and young people of African and Afrodiasporic heritage continue to experience racism and exclusion within the German education system. Through workshops, creative expression, mentoring, dialogue, and community based learning, this project creates spaces for empowerment, reflection, participation, and collective growth.

In 2025, together with schools, Kitas, educators, families, artists, and community partners, we worked to strengthen awareness, support affected youth, and develop practical approaches for addressing racism and discrimination in educational spaces.

In 2026, we continue this work through the participatory Citizen Science project “Perspective Shift in the Classroom / Perspektivwechsel im Klassenzimmer”. Students of Black, African, Afro diasporic, and Indigenous heritage become co researchers of their own realities by documenting experiences, analyzing structural patterns, and developing strategies for change together with scientific and community partners.

As the project states so clearly:

“Those who experience racism are not just affected. They are experts.”

Every child deserves to grow up in a world where they can see themselves reflected. ❤️

The Kindezi Kita Afrocentric curriculum was developed over 15 years with real children and communities in Berlin, Brikama, and Nairobi under leadership of Amal Abbass.

Soon it will be accessible digitally for families, educators, Kitas, and schools worldwide via our new digital platform Kindezi.world. Follow us also on Instagram .world, share and check out Kindezi.de
