Get Physical Process, created by Ricardo de Paula, fuses Contemporary Dance, Capoeira Angola, Body-Mind Centering, and Contact Improvisation. It merges movement principles to cultivate both strength and sensitivity, emphasizing the dynamic exchange between bodies in motion. Rooted in trust and collective energy, the practice balances stability and fluidity. It focuses on spinal alignment, strengthening the body’s center to enable decentralized movement. Through this, dancers develop resilience and heightened awareness—becoming powerful yet sensitive, fully present yet tender in their encounters. This process is the foundation of Grupo Oito’s creations, shaping their artistic language. Through regular training, it fosters experimentation, deepens the group’s physical and conceptual research, and informs the collective development of performances.
This workshop, led by Ricardo de Paula and Natalie Riedelsheimer, will focus on deepening Get Physical’s fundamental principles of floor work, exploring how different kinds of touch initiate movement, and discovering how the group can build and elevate energy through shared movement patterns over two days.
