Many thanks to everyone who attended our charity event for on December 6 at the Lohmühle in Berlin! With screen printing, mulled wine, crêpes, and handmade merchandise, we were able to collect several hundred euros in donations, which will go entirely to Kompas in Sarajevo. Together, we watched a short film about the conditions for people on the move in northern Bosnia-Herzegovina. Our friends from Kompas provided an up-to-date insight into the situation on the Balkan route and the challenges of the coming years. A huge thank you to and for their strong musical support! Thank you to the Lohmühle for their years of steadfast support for our work. and will continue to support Kompas. Thank you for never leaving us alone in this

Jeder Euro hilft. 💝

———

This week, our partner organisation celebrated its 5th birthday!

Instead of cake and presents, they have only one wish: to continue supporting people who have been forced to flee their homes!

And to do that, they simply need money to provide the help. Even small amounts can make a huge difference. So if you’d like to contribute something meaningful for their birthday, check out the fundraising campaign in our bio.

Every donation counts. Every pound helps. 💝

The story of

In this post, we provide an insight into the history of Kompas 071 – and show why the organization is so important for people fleeing through Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Please support Kompas with a donation. Sharing our posts also helps enormously to spread the word about the campaign. Thank you for your support!

For over ten years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a central part of refugee routes through the so-called Balkan region. Since 2018 alone, hundreds of thousands of people have traveled through Bosnia and Herzegovina as people on the move.

They risk their lives to escape war, persecution, poverty, the consequences of climate change, and other dangers, often with the goal of finding protection in an EU country and building a new life.

By 2019 and 2020 at the latest, Sarajevo had become a central transit hub—in the midst of a worsening humanitarian crisis triggered by the EU’s isolationist policies and a lack of support structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Fundraising campaign for

The situation is serious: in order for our friends at Kompas 071 Sarajevo to continue their important political and humanitarian work for people on the move, they urgently need donations. That is why they have now launched their first own crowdfunding campaign. Every bit of support counts—no matter how big or small, but preferably on a regular basis. Donate, share the campaign, and tell your friends about it. Together, we can strengthen Kompas and secure their independence.

Who is Kompas 071?
Our friends at have been running a community center in Sarajevo for several years. In this supportive space away from the large camps, people on the move can choose clothing and food from a free shop, take showers, use sanitary facilities, do their laundry, and charge their electronic devices. There is also a common room with drinks, books, games, and space for conversations and encounters.
And recently, psychological support has also been offered in cooperation with Doctors Without Borders.

In the coming weeks, we will introduce Kompas in more detail here and, above all, on their Instagram page.
We will show you what Kompas stands for, why their work is so important, and how donations are used.

Who’s frach - and what are we actually doing?

We founded frachcollective in 2021 in the Bosnian city of Bihać. The catalyst was the fire in the nearby Camp Lipa, which left hundreds of refugees living in forests and occupied ruins. Like others, we tried to support the people with food parcels and clothing. We witnessed the daily attempts to cross the heavily fortified EU external border in search of safe places, and thus also the brutal, violent, racist policy of isolation.

For us, the autonomy of the individual and the right to unconditional freedom of movement are at the heart of our political work. At the same time, it remains an ongoing task to examine our own role in Fortress Europe and the significance of our work.

After several years as a collective with changing volunteers, we found a more permanent, smaller core with the self-imposed end of our work in Bihać in 2023. The so-called “Balkan route” had changed and new hotspots had emerged. We decided to adapt our support work to the needs of local groups and actors. In our view, supporting those who are permanently and continuously working on the ground for people fleeing their homes offers the best opportunities for solidarity and sustainable practice.

We see ourselves as a No Border collective. As a non-profit organization, we collect donations, organize events, and strive to educate ourselves and others. We try to use our privilege to write project proposals, acquire donations, and direct funds to where they are needed.

Since 2024, we have been supporting our friends at Kompas 071 Sarajevo with volunteers from various political contexts in our community. We have already worked with Kompas in Bihać and try to support the organization both financially and by being reliable contacts on a personal level. Help us and support Kompas with your donation so that they can continue to provide important support for people on the move in Sarajevo next year: https://www.kompas071.org/donate

85 handmade backpacks for Sarajevo!

Thanks to the wonderful women of Trochtelfingen, we were able to deliver another 85 backpacks to KOMPAS071 Sarajevo – filled with urgently needed items such as socks, towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste and underwear.

What makes this campaign so special is that Not only were the rucksacks sewn and filled in no time at all, but everything was done on a voluntary basis and with a lot of heart. The dedicated women from Trochtelfingen have been supporting refugees since the 1990s – with fundraising campaigns, handicrafts and a clear goal: to look where others look away.

Your commitment shows that even small initiatives can make a big difference. We would like to express our sincere thanks for this support and are delighted that you are supporting KOMPAS071 for the second time.

New donations for People on the Move in Sarajevo!

A new donation transport reached Sarajevo in February. We were able to hand over around 140 boxes filled with jackets, sweaters, T-shirts, pants, socks, underwear, hats, scarves, rucksacks, sleeping bags and hygiene products to our Bosnian friends from . Kompas are supporting people on the move who are passing through Sarajevo or being sent back here. We thank you and all donors!

The handmade “Granny Bags” are attracting particular attention on site. The women from Patchworld in Trochtelfingen sent us these emergency and equipment kits for people on the move with clothes, as well as goodies such as shower gel, towels or chocolate. We are impressed and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Thanks also to and for your support with the transportation.

Anti-fascism and the fight against the borders of this world go hand in hand. Support People on the Move how and where you can! Donations are only a small drop, but an always necessary one. Fight the Fortress Europe! Alerta!
