As the first of its kind in Germany, this association seeks to build academic as well as non-academic competences and practical skills among its members in diverse areas of sociopolitical, economic and educational issues. On April 11th, the third day of BAYMAU 2026, our delegates participated in our two Specialised Technical Committees on gender and local government in the morning. In the evening, we hosted a panel discussion, “Redefining Masculinities in Africa through Power, Socialization and Digital Identities.”

A recap of our second day of the conference, April 10th! Our delegates and chairs participated in four different workshops over the course of the day, having important discussions about African masculinities, intersectionality, gender inequality, and leadership.

Thank you to our distingued guests for participating in the BAYMAU 2026 Conference! Her Excellency Alice Mashingaidze from the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Germany, Her Excellency Mafelile Molala from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Germany, and Mr. Kim G. Kuria, First Counsellor of the Embassy of Kenya in Germany were able to explore the city during a decolonial tour, answer questions during a Q&A, as well as participate in a specialty program, wherein they connected with leaders from the University of Bayreuth and the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence.

Meet Three of Our Esteemed Guest Speakers at BAYMAU 2026!

We’re thrilled to welcome H.E. Alice Mashingaidze Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to Germany, H.E Mafelile Christina Molala Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Germany, and Mr Kim G. Kuria First Counsellor of the Embassy of Kenya to Germany.

Their speeches will help shape critical conversations around this year’s theme:

Our panel, “Redefining Masculinities in Africa through Power, Socialization, and Digital Identities,” explores how masculinities are shaped, challenged, and transformed across diverse African contexts. From traditional structures of power to everyday socialization practices, and from experiences to digital spaces, we unpack how identities are continuously negotiated.

Join us as we question dominant narratives, amplify alternative voices, and reflect on the intersections of culture, gender, and modernity.
