On Monday, January 23, 2023, we have the honor to welcome the former Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Johann Dietrich Wörner. He will give a talk on "Space, a Bridge over Troubled Water". Everyone is warmly invited to attend. The lecture will take place at 6 PM in room H24. Feel free to share and forward the post. Our delegation has made it to Marrakech 🇲🇦!!!! They will participate in the FWWMUN conference and are already very excited about it. Besides the conference, visits to embassies and other institutions are of course on the agenda, not to mention discovering the place itself and immersing themselves in the oriental atmosphere of another world. As we’ve been receiving a couple of inquiries regarding the upcoming seminar the last days, we decided to offer an information session this Wednesday at 6pm. We will meet at S64 in the building of RWI and answer all your pending questions.

Dear Community, it is time for a new semester of Model United Nations. The applications for the seminar in the upcoming winter semester are now open.

This year, there will be a lot of exciting changes: We have refreshed the options of available conferences, brought in new team members and improved our e-learning presence.

In applying for the seminar, you also apply for attending three conferences and hereby also represent the University of Bayreuth in the public sphere. Option 1 is attending the MUN conferences in Frankfurt, Prague, and New York City. Option 2 is participating in conferences in Frankfurt, Marrakesh, and the Harvard World MUN, which will take place in Paris. You will be able to decide on your own which conferences you want to visit.

Regarding the application: Please provide us with your CV and a letter of motivation, stating why you would be a great part of the MUN seminar next semester. Please upload your application on our e-learning page: (https://lnkd.in/eTShD2-S) or send us your application via Mail at [email protected]. The deadline for applying is the 31st of July!

In addition to the seminar, which focuses on conference attendance and gaining valuable skills in holding speeches, how to adequately prepare for these events, and many more, we will once again offer our lecture series with various memorable guests. Please note that the lecture series ends with an examination, which can only be credited if you have also participated in the seminar. Hence, we strongly advise you to apply.

Throughout our stay in New York City we undertook a few visits to the European Union Delegation to the United Nations headquarters to chat with Olof Skoog. He has been serving as the European Union Ambassador to the UN since 2019. Olof was so nice to let us interview him for our MOOC course and tell us more about his personal history and how he grew into the important role he obtains these days.

Further, we visited the South Korean embassy and had the chance to chitchat with the Korean ambassador about current political issues and the difficulties of staying in character as a diplomat. The ‘ubt aktuell’ recently published a press release about this interview. Check out the link in our bio prior post to read the whole article.
