Meet Catherine.

Always have an eye on her. She is a very nice person, but... don't enter what she considers her land, or get nearby her food, she won't have any doubt in defending herself using that stick she always takes with her!!! 😅

She will tell you to buy of land just for you.

This happened some days ago. Some kids were at the gym challenging themselves with questions like "Which is the poorest country in the world?".
One of them answered immediately: "Burundi! 🇧🇮".
But the other said: "No!" (and this was quite a surprise to me!!).
He continued and said: "Tuvalu is the poorest country in the world, it's so tiny and poor that its gross income is around 50 million euros".
Good point, I thought to myself, but poverty is not a measure for countries, is a measure for people, for human beings that have to carry on, facing the conditions given in each and every country.
Now see our beloved elderlies at the Saint Elizabeth hospice in Bujumbura, main town of one of the poorest countries in the world.
They are having today's breakfast, milk and bread. They can have it because African Lives heads every penny coming from our donors to ensure a dignified live for them, with the support of our local partners and suppliers. This is how we fight poverty!

Thank you for your help!!

We all hope to be healthy to enjoy life. Even in Burundi.

Meet Madeleine. She has gone for surgery in her eyes for the second time. We all hope she will recover fully.

Meet Chantal. She is undergoing a hard battle against cancer. Her wish to eat meat again cannot be fulfilled yet. She must conform by now with smashed potatoes.

Meet Marie. She shares smiles and complicity with our most appreciated Amelie from the local team.

How important is to get comfort and support during illness!

We at African Lives try our best to ensure health to our dear elderlies and disfavoured persons at the Sainte Elizabeth Hospice in Bujumbura. A doctor visits them regularly. A nurse takes care of medicines and diet. Given poverty and the lack of means and materials, we can only do so thanks to your invaluable help. Thank you!!

Meet Antoine!
he had a broken leg, had to go to the Hospital to get healed. He couldn't wait to get back to the Hospice, since he wanted to help his good friend, also Antoine, as he does every day.
This kind of genuine solidarity and even friendship for disfavoured, elderly people like the two Antoines is possible thanks to the support we provide, with your invaluable help, to the Hospice Sainte Elizabeth in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Yes, even in poverty and disgrace, kindness is still possible.
Thank you for your help!!

Meet Pierre... and Janine!
The recent visit to the Hospice Sainte Elizabeth allows us to share some gossip about some residents 😈
Pierre and Janine are in love ❤️!!
They share their meals, and Pierre takes care that Janine eats what she must eat... even when there is no more meat in the dish... "no more meat, no more hunger", she says! 😂
We are very proud of improving the conditions of disabled, elderly, and yes, abandoned people. They do not only have a dignified life, but also are happy and, of course, grateful for your support! As we at African Lives are!! THANK YOU!!!
[And let's love rule!!!]

In preparation of next Saturdays General Meeting, a representation of African Lives visited our local partners from at their facilities in Bujumbura.
The control of the African Lives funds provided for their support was one of the agenda items.
Another one were plans and ideas for the future.
With partners like this, African Lives is able to promote a dignified life for abandoned, elderly or disabled people in one of the poorest countries in the world. Thank you, Xaveri!
And with your invaluable help, we are able to continue doing so! Thank you!!!

Happy New Year!!!

We are African Lives e.V. wish you all the best for this New Year 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣!!

We thank the Sainte Elizabeth Hospice in Bujumbura for its continuous commitment in providing disfavoured people with a real home, like these new 2 residents portrayed.

We thank the team for the kids' visits that bring joy, music, dances, and lots of smiles, as you can see in the rest of photos, and the local support they provide to the Hospice.

And we thank you for all your support. None of these photos would be a reality without the help you provide African Lives!!!

For this new year, we want more of these little stories. Stories that show how disfavoured, elderly people in one of the poorest countries in the world are able to have a dignified live.

Thank you, and Happy New Year!! 🥳
