Dear Dharma friends,
Yesterday, with deep sadness, we received the news that Lama Ole Nydahl has departed from this world. Early in the morning, surrounded by natural peace and strength, Lama Ole left the body he had tirelessly used for decades to benefit countless beings and to establish the Buddhadharma in the West.
For so many practitioners around the world, Lama Ole was not only a teacher, but also a profound source of inspiration, courage, joy, and friendship. Together with his wife Hannah Nydahl, and under the guidance of the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, he dedicated his life to creating conditions for Western students to encounter the authentic teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage. Through his fearless activity, clarity, and unwavering trust in the nature of mind, he opened the door to the Dharma for thousands of people.
Today, practitioners across the world turn their thoughts and meditation toward Lama Ole with deep appreciation and respect. In the coming days and weeks, various meditation practices and gatherings will take place in Dharma centers to honor his life and activity and to continue the connection with his vast enlightened influence.
May we always remember his extraordinary example and continue carrying his activity forward with courage, gratitude, and trust in the teachings.
