Badiou připouští, že na světě neexistují jen těla a jazyky, ale i pravdy. Dle Badioua jsou tyto pravdy věčné a universální, objevují se však lokálně ve chvíli, kdy událost převrátí určitou situaci vzhůru nohama. Badioův důkaz existence pravd je významným obratem současné filosofie, který pomáhá myšlení, aby se vymanilo ze slepé uličky postmoderny, konečnosti a„demokratického materialismu“. Hloubka
a záběr Badiouva myšlení (které sahá od matematické ontologie, teorie množin až po Lacanovu psychoanalýzu a současnou logiku) tvoří jeden z nejvýznamnějších filosofických projektů naší doby. Konference „Filosofie pravd“ se zabývá myšlením Alaina Badioua a jeho možným přínosem pro střední Evropu. Zahrnuje vztahy mezi jeho filosofií a jinými obory, jako jsou estetika, politika či architektura. Alain Badiou přednese v Praze dvě přednášky: první přednáška se uskuteční 29. října 2014
v Městské knihovně v Praze, druhá následně
30. října v rámci konference v Kině 35 ve Francouzském institutu.

Alain Badiou offers an important to the current state of philosophy. He admits that, as others claimed, there are “only bodies and languages,” but he adds: “except there are also truths.” According to Badiou, truths are eternal and universal, although they appear locally when an event overturns a given situation. Badiou’s “except there are” is of considerable importance for the contemporary era: leading thought out of the impasse of postmodernism, and of a “democratic materialism.” His conception of truths is supported by the consistency and the breath of Badiou’s thought (which includes mathematical ontology, set theory, Lacanian psychoanalysis and contemporary logic) and constitutes one of the most important philosophical projects of today. The conference “Philosophy Of Truths” will analyze the richness of Alain Badiou’s philosophy and its potential contribution to understanding Central Europe. The conference will further address the relations between Badiou’s thought with disciplines such as aesthetics, politics & architecture. In connection with the conference Alain Badiou will deliver two lectures in Prague: one on October 29th in Prague’s Municipal Library, the second within the framework of conference on October 30th.

Alain Badiou apporte une correction importante
à l’état actuel de la philosophie. Il affirme « qu’il n’y
a que corps et langages sinon qu’il y a des vérités ». Selon Badiou, les vérités sont éternelles et universelles malgré le fait qu’elles apparaissent localement au moment où un événement perturbe
une situation donnée. Ce « sinon que » de Badiou
a une importance considérable pour notre époque:
il sort la pensée de l’impasse du postmodernisme,
de la finitude et du « matérialisme démocratique ». Fondée sur la consistance et l’envergure de la
pensée de Badiou (qui va de l’ontologie mathématique et de la théorie des ensembles à la psychanalyse lacanienne et la logique contemporaine), ce « sinon que » constitue le projet philosophique le plus important de notre temps. Le colloque « Philosophie des vérités » analysera
la richesse de la philosophie d’Alain Badiou et son possible apport à l’Europe centrale et postcommuniste. Il esquissera les relations que sa pensée établit avec d’autres disciplines: l’esthétique,
la politique et l’architecture. Alain Badiou délivrera deux conférences à Prague: la première conférence aura lieu le 29e octobre 2014
à la Bibliothèque municipale de Prague, la seconde
à l’Institut français le 30e octobre 2014.
