🌱 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟬 | 𝗔𝗙𝗦𝗙 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: How do we unlock the full contribution of young people to Africa’s soil health and agricultural transformation?

Today at the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) 2026 in Kigali, YPARD Programme Coordinator, AJUNA TADEO, joined Saran D. , Edward Yeboah, Portia Phohlo, Bartholome Chataika and Martien van Nieuwkoop for an important conversation on how better soil data can reshape agricultural investment and transformation across Africa.

Tadeo highlighted that young people are already 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀 to 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗬𝗲𝘁, 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. Young people must also be equipped with the resources, mentorship, finance, accessible and easy-to-interpret soil data, and enabling environments needed to transform their ideas into meaningful impact.

Meaningful youth participation in decision-making processes is equally critical.

Unlocking the full potential of young people will require more than recognizing their innovation, it means investing in them, trusting their ideas, and creating opportunities for them to lead Africa's agricultural transformation

🌍📢 Do you want to better understand how global climate decisions are shaped before they reach COP negotiations?

Join us for the "Understanding the UNFCCC: The Importance of Its Subsidiary Bodies (SB64)", part of the Changemakers for Agri-food Action Series.
While COPs often receive the most attention, much of the technical work, negotiations, and decision preparation happens through the UNFCCC's Subsidiary Bodies. These bodies play a critical role in advancing discussions on climate finance, adaptation, mitigation, transparency, technology transfer, and capacity building, laying the foundation for decisions adopted at COPs.
This session will provide an opportunity to:

🔹 Understand the role of the Subsidiary Bodies (SBI and SBSTA) within the UNFCCC process.
🔹 Explore why SB64 matters on the road to future climate negotiations.
🔹 Learn how young people can engage meaningfully in climate policy spaces.
