Today is International Youth Day 🌍

This year, the theme "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations" reminds us that while some young people face steeper odds than others, from unequal access to education to the impacts of climate change. However, their hope for a better future remains the same.

At IYNF, this resonates deeply. Youth participation is a core value of ours, we believe that no matter the obstacles, young people deserve to be heard and involved in shaping that future.

Happy 100th anniversary Naturfreundejugend Deutschlands! 🇩🇪

We were happy to be invited to such a special occasion and happily introduced the international part of the movement to all the participants present at the anniversary celebrations! 🤝

The anniversary included all kinds of activities that are typical for the Naturefriends movement, including working hand in hand to build a new fence, political and climate-related workshops, as well as trips to a former concentration camp and a social hike.

We are happy to have you as part of the Naturefriends family and look forward to celebrating the 200th birthday together 🎉

The week was packed with outdoor activities, visits to local sites, and moments of reflection📝

Did you want to apply to our Democracy XP training but missed the deadline? Well, now is your chance!

If you are passionate about democracy and ready to get creative, this is the training for you🤩

During this third and final training of our Democracy Re: Boot cycle in Cecina, Italy, you will:

- Design your own card-based democracy game from scratch 🃏
- Test and refine the game with your peers 👥
- Create your own curriculum and workshop to promote your outcome
- Walk away with practical skills in gamification and creative facilitation 🖍

The finished games will be printed after the activity and made freely available to young people and organisations across Europe.

⏰ When: 21st to 27th September 2026
🌍 Where: Cecina, Italy 🇮🇹
👤 Who: 16 to 30 year olds from eligible countries
💰 Fee: 50€ for members / 75€ for non-members (includes plant-based meals, accommodation, and green travel reimbursement*)

*Sustainability is a core value for us! Participation requires sustainable modes of transportation (trains/buses).

After shaping strategies and solutions for democracy, it was time to shape good memories too! ✨

It's no secret that non-formal education is our favourite method 🤭 but we also believe in the power of different spaces and experiences to bring meaningful learning 🤝

So, just like during our previous training in Prague, we headed out for a walking tour to explore how democracy has been shaped in Hannover 🏛️

We also visited our friends at and discovered the fascinating connection between Hannover and Niki de Saint Phalle, a pioneering contemporary artist whose monumental works centre around feminism and social activism 🙋‍♀️

And while we loved exploring the city, the Naturefriends spirit was never far away, thanks to our wonderful venue

Up next in our MOs and POs Spotlight Series is Naturfreunde Schweiz , our Swiss member organisation 🇨🇭

With around 120,000 members across the country, Naturfreunde Schweiz is a space where outdoor enthusiasts come together with a shared commitment to protecting ecological systems.

Their work focuses not only on the environment but also on social values, with inclusion, democracy, and diversity guiding their approach. 🤝

The organisation dedicates its time to organising outdoor gatherings, creating educational courses, and connecting people from all different backgrounds.

What do you think of when you hear the words "online activism?" 📲

One of the main aims of our last youth training "Democracy Hacks: Shaping Strategies and Solutions", was to navigate this broad field and understand how to deploy its powerful potential. 👩‍💻

Online activism can sometimes be seen as limited or performative. However, our participants worked hard on their own projects, showing how digital reach can be translated into tangible and sustained outcomes. 🤝

We are very proud of the results, and while we were only able to showcase a few, we want to take this occasion to thank once more everyone involved for their time, efforts and creativity put into that! 💚
