A Model United Nations conference, often abbreviated and referred to as an MUN conference, is a simulation of the United Nations and its different bodies. Students participating in the conference take the role of the delegates from various UN member states. They also choose a specific committee (for example the Political and Financial Committee or the Security Council) in which they then advocate the opinions of their chosen country. The task of each delegate is to prepare a resolution. A resolution represents the opinion and position of a country regarding a specific topic that is to be discussed in the committee. During the conference itself, delegates make speeches, debate, merge resolutions and negotiate with other countries so that a resolution representing their nation’s interests is voted for by the committee. PORGMUN takes place annually in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic and one of the most visited cities in the world. PORGMUN is organized solely by the students of PORG Libeň and Nový PORG, which gives the conference a very unique touch as the organizers are profiting from the experience of participating at other MUN conferences themselves.
